As champions of lifelong learning, libraries are a place to access technology, indulge curiosities, and explore new ideas, hobbies, and careers. With this grant, we will be able to improve how all patrons in our community can access these important services.
As you may know, Clay Center residents with disabilities and mothers with strollers would benefit from an entrance to the library that doesn't require steps. We're hoping to install either a handicap accessible ramp to the exterior of our library or a new elevator that can be accessed from our back entrance.
Through Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, Clay Center Carnegie Library will receive grant funding in the amount of $10,000. The library will use that funding to talk with residents with disabilities and patrons who have children with strollers about accessibility and accommodation in our library. We want to make library access as easy as possible for all patrons.
