The Clay Center Fire Department is now accepting applications for our Fire Explorer Program!
If you've completed 8th grade (typically ages 14–21) and have an interest in firefighting or emergency medical services, this is a great opportunity to learn from experienced firefighters, gain hands-on training, build leadership skills, and get a firsthand look at what it takes to serve your community.

PSA -- the City of Clay Center will test sirens at 11 am on Monday, May 25th. Sirens may be heard multiple times, this is only a test to ensure the sirens are working properly.

On Tuesday, May 12th, the Clay Center Fire Dept. will begin the annual flushing and flow testing of fire hydrants in the city.

We are planning to start the first round Fire Hydrant maintenance May 12th 2026. We will be checking the oil level, lubricating caps, flowing water and flow testing approximately one quarter of the hydrants.
