At this time Powell County 911 lines are down. All calls are in the process of being transferred to an admin line. Please be patient with the 911 Dispatcher taking the calls, until AT&T can resolve this issue. Our non emergency number is 606-663-4116, if for some reason it doesn’t transfer immediately to administrative line you can dial this number.

AT&T has transferred all 911 lines to admin lines at this time and successfully completed test calls. We will update this post when they are back up and working on the correct phone lines.

We are seeking the public’s help on any information in the location of this mini bike pictured below. It was stolen sometime last night (6/14/2026) from a residence on 12th Street and may have been sold in the Jeffersonville area. The kid on the bike would love to have his present his parents got him. Officers are out with this male on Harts Orchard Road. Appears as if he has been out all night and came out of the woods at a rental. Does anyone know him or know his parents? His name is Zachary.

UPDATE: After several tips provided, law enforcement from multiple agencies were able to locate the vehicle and the operator. That subject is now facing multiple charges. Thank you to everyone that assisted in this!!

Clay City Police Department is seeking any and all information relating to the hit and run collision at the intersection of Wi******er Road and the 16 Mile Marker East Bound Exit. The picture is not of great quality due to the distance from the camera but its believed that the vehicle has severe front end damage and the hood flew up as it was driving away. If you have any information on the vehicle that is exiting the off ramp, please call Powell County 911 Dispatch at 606-663-4116. Thank you.

National Police Week (May 10th-16th) began this Sunday to honor the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, dying in the line of duty. National Police Week began as Peace Officers Memorial Day which was signed into law by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, designating May 15th as the day to honor those law enforcement.

Each day officers across the nation go to work to protect their communities knowing that it may be their last shift, still serving with courage, dedication and pride. Some sadly never make it home. We honor the local officers who died or were killed in the line of duty, by remembering and honoring them.

Today, Clay City Police Department in conjunction with Stanton Police Department laid wreaths at the final resting place for local officers. While no longer here, their legacy carries on with us.
