During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank all of our Webster County telecommunicators for the incredible work you do each and every day.

You are the calm in the chaos—the steady voice on the other end of the line when someone is experiencing one of the worst moments of their life. Your dedication, professionalism, and compassion do not go unnoticed. While much of what you do happens behind the scenes, the impact you make is felt throughout our entire community.

Every call you answer, every decision you make, and every second you spend helping others truly matters. You are the critical link between those in need and the help they depend on. Your commitment to serving Webster County is something we are deeply grateful for.

Thank you for your long hours, your strength under pressure, and your unwavering dedication to keeping our citizens and first responders safe.

We appreciate you—not just this week, but every single day.

Elevated Wildfire Danger This Afternoon...

Elevated conditions for wildfires are expected this afternoon,
mainly between 12 PM and 7 PM CDT. Relative humidity values will
fall to 25 to 35% this afternoon, and winds will be breezy from
the south, sustained at 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 25 to 30 mph
forecast. Vegetation is dry due to ongoing moderate to severe
drought conditions over much of the region.

Outdoor burning and activities that involve open sparks or flames
are discouraged. Please report all wildfires to local law
enforcement as soon as possible

ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER DANGER AND GUSTY WINDS TODAY...

Widespread elevated fire danger is anticipated today across the
region during peak heating.

Sustained winds between 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph
along with very dry fuels are the main concerns. Isolated gusts in
excess of 35+ mph are also possible.

While minimum RH values this afternoon will range from 28 to 38%
across the region above critical values, the continued very dry
fuels combined with increased winds will make it possible for
wildfires to ignite and spread rapidly.

Outdoor burning is not recommended. Gusty winds will blow around
objects left unsecured.
