Barbour County Alabama residence,

There are people calling and saying they are a representative of the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office and that you have a warrant or you could pay them and it will take care of the warrant. We here at BCSO will not call you if you have a warrant. It is a scam and we have received several calls pertaining to these callers. Just simply hang up on them.

Thank you,
Chief Deputy #602

Please help us in congratulating Deputy Marcos Morales-Gomez on completion of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Academy. It has been a long and intense 16 weeks, but we believe every graduate today would say it was worth it. Again, congratulations to Deputy Gomez and all of the other graduates. On February 1, 2026 at approximately 3:41 pm SGT. Fillingim was doing routine patrol when he observed a black SUV traveling on Hwy 51 heading towards Louisville doing 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Once SGT. Fillingim activated his emergency lights the vehicle sped up even faster. Once he made a U-turn to pursue the vehicle he witnessed the passenger side door open wide enough to throw out what was later determined to be a black duffle bag. Deputy Dobbs also assisted by cutting the vehicle off and executing the traffic stop. After the vehicle came to a stop, two suspects were detained. A young child was also located in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was Joshua Baxter and passenger was Schella Schantel Anderson. The bag that was thrown out while pursing the vehicle was found and searched. Inside the bag was 2 taped packages containing leafy substance (Ma*****na), a white crystallized substance (m**h), 20 cell phones, 5 cell phone chargers,4 charging cables, 1 scale, 1 earbud and 32 ci**rs.
