From Emergency Medical Services Flight Safety Network: Firefighters provide security for EMS helicopters at accident scenes and other remote landing sites. If a large crowd gathers to watch the helicopter, it's a good idea to post a security guard on all sides of the helicopter. Curiosity can and often does get the best of people. Security keeps observers from getting too close or hurting themselves or others.
