The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will be considering the following upcoming appointments. Please note the deadline to apply is July 21, 2026. Applicants must be a resident of Johnston County.
🟢Child Fatality Prevention Team – 3 positions; 3 year terms. (One position representing a parent of a child that died before reaching their 18th birthday; and two positions are representing county agencies or community at large)
🟢Firefighters Relief Fund Boards of Trustees – 2 year terms. 1 position available for each of the following Fire Districts: Brogden, Elevation, Wilson’s Mills. 2 positions available for each of the following Fire Districts: North Side.
🟢Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners – 3 positions; 3 year terms. (Please note the Johnston County Board of Commissioners will nominate the appointments at their August 3, 2026 meeting; the nominations will then be sent to the Hospital Authority for review. Upon review and recommendation by the Authority, Chairman Patrick E. Harris will make the final appointments at the Johnston County Board of Commissioners September 8, 2026 meeting.)
🟢Juvenile Crime Prevention Council – 7 positions; 2 year terms. Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Chief of Police, Representative Member of Business Community, two representatives for General Public, Representative of Local Parks & Rec and two individuals under the age of 21.)
🟢Library Board of Trustees – 2 positions; 3 year terms.
🟢Nursing Home/Adult Care Home Community Advisory Board – 15 positions; 1 year term for new appointees or 3 year term for reappointed members. “No person or immediate family member of a person with a financial interest in a home served by a committee, or an employee or governing board member of a home served by a committee, or immediate family member of a patient in a home served by a committee may be a member of a committee.”
🟢Pleasant Grove Community Building Board of Trustees – 4 positions; 2 year terms.
🟢Veterans Services Advisory Board – 2 positions; 3 year terms. (Eligible applicants must be a Veteran. One position representing County Commissioner District 6 & one position representing County Commissioner 7).
🟢Voluntary Agricultural District Advisory Board - 1 position; 3 year term. (Applicants must be actively engaged in farming and meet the eligibility criteria for the Johnston County Voluntary Agricultural District Program and/or express special interest, experience or education in agricultural and/or land preservation.)
