The Clayton Police Department is pleased to announce that we have joined with the Delaware State Police in the Blue Envelope Program. This program is a free initiative designed to promote safe, clear and respectful communication between law enforcement and drivers with autism and other disabilities.
This new initiative is designed for provide awareness people with autism, a communication difference, sensory difference, mobility limitation, other disability or medical conditions. Individuals, their family members and their caregivers can place important documents such as their vehicle registration, insurance card or emergency care plan inside the envelope and then present it to a police officer when they encounter them specifically on traffic stops. Citizens interested in obtaining the own blue envelope can stop by the Clayton Police Department or any Delaware State Police Troop to pick up the Blue Envelope and a guide about the program.
