At 12:00am KCFD7 and South Cle Elum Fire Department, Assoc. were paged to a semi on fire on WB I90 at MP87. The semi had struck the guardrail and bridge railing causing the semi to catch fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to a fully involved semi cab and trailer on which also spread into the brush along the I90

🔥 Fire Danger is HIGH 🔥

While we are not currently under a burn ban, conditions across Upper Kittitas County are becoming increasingly dry. Grasses and light fuels can ignite easily and fires can spread quickly, especially during windy conditions.

As you enjoy the outdoors, please do your part to prevent wildfires:

✅ Fully extinguish fires before leaving them unattended
✅ Never park vehicles on dry grass
✅ Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks
✅ Use caution with equipment that can create heat or sparks
✅ Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials
✅ Keep a shovel and water source nearby when conducting any legal burning

Remember, it only takes one spark to start a wildfire.

KCFD7 crews are ready to respond, but prevention is our best tool. Let’s all do our part to keep our community, forests, and neighbors safe this summer.

⛔️BE ADVISED ⛔️

UPDATED TRAVEL ADVISORY from Washington State Department of Transportation:

Starting Thursday, May 28, the Bullfrog Road overpass will be closed for approximately two weeks as crews pave the final overlay. The overpass was replaced earlier this year after the bridge was damaged by an over-height load in October 2025.

WSDOT has clarified their notification that It WILL be opened during the WEEKENDS.

Westbound travelers will be able to access the Cle Elum/Roslyn area from exit 80, but will not be able to travel south across the Bullfrog overpass. Eastbound I-90 travelers accessing the Cle Elum/Roslyn area will need to travel five miles east to exit 85 to State Route 903. To get across the bridge from Suncadia, travelers can go west to exit 78, and turn around to exit 80.

KCFD7 probationary firefighters recently spent time with Kittitas County Fire Protection District #6 familiarizing themselves with Fire District 6's response area. Learning the geography, access points, water sources, and unique challenges of our neighboring district helps prepare our firefighters when we're called to assist our partners during an incident.

A special thank you to Chief Pauley and Kittitas County Fire Protection District #6 for sharing their time and local knowledge. Opportunities like these strengthen our partnerships and enhance our ability to serve the residents and visitors of Kittitas County. 🚒🔥
