🚧 First Street Road Work Update 🚧

Just a reminder that businesses on First Street are OPEN and ready for you!

With road work continuing this week, parking may not be as accessible as usual, especially for those visiting from out of town. Most of the work should be completed this week, so we appreciate your patience while crews finish up.

In the meantime, please continue to support our local First Street businesses!

The good news? A new road is on the way! 🎉

🚧 Road Work Begins Today 🚧

Road work begins today, Thursday, August 20, on 1st Street from Oakes Avenue to Peoh Avenue and Oakes Avenue from 1st Street to 2nd Street.

📅 Tentative Work Schedule:

🔧 Lower Utilities: August 20–21
🛣️ Grinding: August 24–26
🧱 Crack Seal: August 27–28
🚧 Paving: August 31–September 2
🅿️ Pavement Markings: September 3–8
🔧 Raise Utilities: September 9–11

Please note that this schedule is tentative and subject to change based on weather, construction conditions, and other factors. During construction, please expect minor traffic delays and avoid parking in the work area. Access to businesses via sidewalks will remain open throughout the project.

🌿 Fall Brush & Tree Limb Drop-Off 🌳

Ready to clear out those branches, shrubs, and yard debris? The City of Cle Elum is offering a Brush & Tree Limb Drop-Off throughout the month of September!

📅 Every Tuesday & Thursday in September
⏰ 9:00 AM–12:00 PM & 1:00–3:00 PM

📍 NEW LOCATION: Cle Elum Water Plant
1970 SR-903, Cle Elum, WA 98922

⚠️ Please note: We have changed the drop-off location from the one used during our Spring Clean-Up. This September, drop-off will be at the Cle Elum Water Plant.

This disposal site is for Cle Elum city residents only and is intended for brush, shrubs, and tree limbs no larger than 6 inches in diameter.

Take advantage of this opportunity to clean up your yard and help keep our community looking its best! 🍂🌲

📢 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Friday City Hall Closure – September Through December

Beginning in September, City Hall will be closed to the public on Fridays through the end of the year as a temporary pilot program. City staff will continue to work their regular schedules and will be working during normal business hours.

Over the past several months, staff have experienced an increase in interruptions throughout the day from phone calls, walk-in visitors, and other requests. While we value being available to our community, these frequent interruptions can make it difficult for staff to complete projects, administrative work, follow-up, and other important responsibilities that require focused attention.

Closing City Hall to the public on Fridays will give staff dedicated time to work without the usual interruptions, allowing them to focus on completing work and improving the services we provide to the community.

What you can expect on Fridays:

* City Hall will be closed for walk-in services.
* Staff will continue working and completing City business.
* Phones will not be answered on Fridays.
* Staff will continue to monitor for and respond to emergencies.
* Staff will respond to emails and other requests as appropriate.

This will be a trial period from September through the end of December. During this time, the City will evaluate how the Friday closure works for both staff and the community and determine whether any changes should be made moving forward.

We appreciate your understanding as we try this approach to create more uninterrupted work time for staff while continuing to provide responsive and effective service to our community.
