DADI is a non-profit organization dedicated to enterprise, business retention, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and growing business as well as DC community development. Deuel Area Development began in 2008 after a county community assessment was taken of interested communities and individuals within Deuel County. Because of their vision an office (s) was established. See below the timeline for DADi as a non-profit.
The County and Community Assessment was done in 2007 and from there the communities voted to begin Deuel Area Development, Inc (DADi). The plan then was to encompass county wide with the towns and townships committing to support the effort. In 2008, DADi became a legal entity and the organization was off and running. Brianna (Hoffman) Fabris was hired as full time Executive Director with the aid of the Rural Learning Center in Howard, SD and a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant which was awarded to DADi that year. A Strategic Plan was developed, office space located and a housing assessment completed. Following is a timeline of the events of DADi.
With the direction of two RBEG grants, DADi began as an E-Coaching Office with outside resources to assist and a focus on helping entrepreneurs begin and continue on building a business within the county. Success has been occurring from these grants since the last was finished in 2013. Joan (Berry) Sacrison became the new Executive Director in the summer of 2010 and finished administering the two grants. A website was started, community awareness focusses on as well as a business and kitchen incubator (the first of it’s kind and setting a model base for other small rural communities). The kitchen incubator Deuel Community Kitchen information can be found on the website at https://deuelarea.com. under success stories. More info to come, but the following timeline gives this office a brief overview of the past years.
