Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

The Clear Lake Fire Department was proud to help display the American flag from Ladder 21 as our community gathered to remember our fallen heroes this Memorial Day.

A special thank you to Mark Holt and crew for the incredible flyover that helped make today’s ceremony even more meaningful. ✈️🇺🇸

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who gave everything for our freedom. ❤️🤍💙

Today we honor and remember retired EMT Missy Huling for her incredible 19.5 years of dedicated service to the Clear Lake Fire Department.

Missy joined the department on December 19, 2005, and was part of the original crew when the department launched its ambulance service. From day one, she set the standard for what it means to serve your community with heart, commitment, and pride.

Missy was always going above and beyond around the station. She never sat still—whether it was cleaning, organizing, or pulling weeds, she took care of the firehouse like it was her own home. A talented artist, Missy also left a lasting mark by painting a beautiful mural in the new fire station after the department moved in.

Even after retiring from the Fire Department on July 13th, 2025, her dedication didn’t stop. Missy continued to give back as a member of the Clear Lake Fire Association, always willing to help wherever she was needed.

On April 12, 2026, we lost Missy, but her impact on this department and the Clear Lake community will never be forgotten. Known for her constant smile and positive spirit, she touched countless lives throughout her years on the ambulance.

Missy will truly be missed, but her legacy of service, kindness, and commitment will live on in all of us.

Thank you, Missy, for everything you have done.

25 years ago today, we remember Clear Lake Firefighter Dale F. Simpson, age 38, who passed away on April 2, 2001, shortly after helping extinguish an early morning fire.

Dale was deeply dedicated to the Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He led EMT certification efforts, and helped raise funds for the department’s first thermal imaging camera. The son of a former chief, Dale grew up around the station and carried that legacy of service throughout his life.

He worked at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa and was known for his commitment to learning, his love of family, and his passion for the fire service.

We honor Dale’s service, dedication, and the lasting impact he made on our department and community. His legacy continues to guide us today. Squad 57 was the first apparatus we put into service after Dale's passing. It was dedicated in Dale's honor of his fire number 57.
