Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library serves the residents of Clearfield, Bradford and Lawrence Townships. All donations are tax-deductible.

Founded in 1940, the mission of the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library is to serve the educational, recreational, informational, and cultural needs of our community. We offer seven patron computers with printing capabilities and free wi-fi. There are a variety of storytimes for families to enjoy as well as a children's area for play and motor skill development. In addition, the Library has a l

arge sitting area overlooking the river for all of our patrons to enjoy. The Library collection includes books, audiobooks, and magazines, as well as access to online audiobooks and e-books. The Library is a non-profit organization that depends on state funding and donations in order to provide services to our community.

Join us tomorrow (June 19th) for the Shaw Public Library's Summer Reading Kick-off! Cold Blooded Kingdom will have a hands on experience where tortoises, alligators, and prehistoric creatures will take center stage. Everyone can park at the library and walk to Lower Witmer Park for a great program starting at 1pm. Its going to be GREAT!

If you like to read and make new friends, join us at the Shaw Public Library for their monthly book club. Explore different genres and engage in great conversation. The library provides the books so you don't have to. Last month, we had an ice cream social along with our book discussion of Demon Copperhead. This month we will be reading Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. It is a nice beach read. Discussion night will be Tuesday, June 23rd while we enjoy a buffet at Buck's Pizza. Dinner starts at 6pm. Come join us for Summer Reading registration this week at the Shaw Public Library! Children and adults will enjoy this year's theme of Unearth a Story which focuses on dinosaurs and our past. While at registration, children will have an opportunity to take a photo with our dinosaur background and props! Sign up for some great prizes and learn about dates and times of programs for children and adults. Its going to be a ton of fun! Also, check out all the amazing prizes that everyone can work towards winning! Some of the items include a lap top, a gigantic Bluey bounce castle, a 4 person tent, head phones, ice cream maker, lots of dinosaur prizes, and so much more! Hope to see you at the library!

The Shaw Public Staff enjoyed participating in the end of school carnival at the Christian Missionary Alliance School. We shared with students the theme for this year's summer reading program which is Unearth a Story. Programs will be centered around dinosaurs, archeology, paleontologist, and the 250th birthday celebration of our country. While at the carnival, students made their own fossil. For those who could give a cool dinosaur fact, they enjoyed digging for their very own arrowhead. We wish all the students and their parents a safe and happy summer. See ya at the library!

Preschoolers from St. Francis in Clearfield visited the library. We enjoyed a story, examined bugs under a microscope, and built bug houses. It was a great way to kick-off summer. Everyone was invited to join us for our Summer reading program titled "Uncover a Story" where the past will be explored! Dinosaurs will come alive. Join us next week June 8th -13th to get your registration packet and see all the amazing prizes you can win by attending programs, reading, and staying engaged in literacy.

Through the generosity of two sisters, the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library received an abundance of prizes for our Summer Reading Program. Bonnie Garito along with her family and sister Jodi Anderson, provided a multitude of dinosaurs, splash pads, technology toys, and many other items too numerous to mention. As we kick-off of this year's theme, Uncover a Story, our community is lucky to have these thoughtful individuals who care about the children who participate in our Summer Reading Program. The purpose of the program is to encourage children to stay active during the summer months. Beginning Monday, children and adults can register. It's going to be wild! Hope to see you there!

Members of the Clearfield Hospital Nursing Association held their monthly meeting at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library. While at the library, they were recognized for their dedication to our community. The group donated a cabinet to the library that previously had been on display at the hospital. This beautiful cabinet was made locally by Timberline and now enhances our library foyer. This generous gift from the group currently houses memorabilia from the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing in celebration of National Nurses Week. The cabinet will remain in the foyer and will feature various displays throughout the coming months. Thank you ladies!

Reminder that the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library is closed today (5/30) as we replace our sidewalks. Please do not cross the barriers for your own safety. The library will open normally on Monday. Thank you for your understanding as we make improvements!

The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library will be closed today and tomorrow for clean-up resulting from the replacement of the sidewalk. We appreciate the public's understanding this week as we navigated a new entrance. We expect to be back to normal on Monday.
