What a special day at HPNFC as we celebrate Deputy Anthony Borbonio of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Unit. The Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County honored him with the Kids First Cooperman-Bogue Award for his outstanding commitment to children and families.

People often use the expression, "It takes a village."

High Point Neighborhood Family Center actually lives it.

For years, they've been quietly serving families by connecting them with resources that go far beyond the classroom.

Think about that. Just across the street from one of our schools is an organization helping families with:

• Food assistance
• After-school programs
• Teen programs
• Family support
• Job resources
• Transportation assistance
• Summer activities

When we talk about helping students succeed, this is part of the conversation.

Because a child doesn't stop being a student when the school bell rings. Strong schools are strengthened by strong community organizations that help meet the real-life needs of families.

One thing I've learned throughout this campaign is that Pinellas County is full of people already doing incredible work. They don't always make headlines, but every day they're changing lives, one family at a time.

If elected, I don't just want to talk about partnerships with large organizations. I want to elevate and highlight community centers like High Point that know their neighborhoods, understand what families need, and are already making a difference. One of the School Board's roles should be connecting schools with the incredible resources that already exist throughout our county.

A huge shoutout to the Rotary Club of Largo, who proved that their Death by Chocolate fundraiser isn’t just fatally delicious… it’s the secret ingredient behind some seriously sweet support.

Thanks to their generosity, 60 of our Allstars now have bookbags stuffed with school supplies because these Rotarians didn’t just donate; they packed each bag like master chefs adding the missing ingredient.

Youth + supplies + Rotary love = a triple‑layer success cake that tastes better than anything in the bake‑off.

And the cherry on top?
Our retired Executive Director and proud Rotarian, Margo Adams-Reid, jumped in to help make this whole recipe even sweeter.

High Point is cooking up success, one chocolate‑powered act of kindness at a time.
