Good transportation planning takes teamwork. The MPOs of Hillsborough, Pinellas, & Pasco Counties are working together to plan for the future and make sure transportation dollars support real needs of the Tampa Bay region.

Consideration is underway to merge the three MPOs into one regional MPO. We are exploring how a merger might impact the possibility of streamlining transportation planning across the tri-county area and increased access to funding sources. Hillsborough TPO Pasco County, Florida, Government

🚴 Do you love to bike recreationally or use it to get to and from work, home, or other places in your community? Do you care about bicyclist and pedestrian safety? Our Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) could be a great fit for you!

The BPAC reviews and provides active guidance on bike/ped projects and safety studies.
✅ The Courtney Campbell Causeway overpass, currently under construction, was in response to suggestions from our BPAC
✅ BPAC is currently engaged in safety studies like the 22nd Ave N/Pinellas Trail crossing and the Safe Streets Pinellas effort.

Transportation is about more than roads. Forward Pinellas helps communities across Pinellas County plan for the full picture of safety and mobility and turn federal transportation funding into projects that make everyday life work better.

Along 4th St. and Ulmerton Rd, construction of 12-foot wide shared use paths is underway to connect to the facility crossing the Howard Frankland Bridge. The 4th St. section will eventually tie into the Pinellas Trail Loop and other local biking facilities. FDOT West Central - Tampa Area

Regional problems need regional solutions. Forward Pinellas helps communities across Tampa Bay work together on congestion, bottlenecks, and the transportation challenges.

Currently underway, the I-275 widening project will improve connectivity between St. Petersburg and Tampa and provide additional capacity to help reduce congestion. Two tolled express lanes will be added in each direction from north of 38th Ave N to south of Gandy, and one additional tolled express lane from Gandy to the Howard Frankland Bridge. Safety does not stop at city limits. Forward Pinellas helps identify dangerous corridors, plan improvements, and invest in safer transportation for everyone.

US 19 is the most heavily traveled arterial road in Pinellas County with serious safety and congestion concerns. A long standing priority of Forward Pinellas, FDOT West Central - Tampa Area is working to add interchanges and dedicated pedestrian & bicycle crossings from SR 580 to north of Curlew Rd.

Thank you to the 100+ riders who joined us for our 10th year of Bike Your City! This year's ride was in partnership with Tarpon Springs and highlighted the reopening of the Elfer’s Spur Trail and showcased Tarpon Springs's diverse neighborhoods and districts, from the Sponge Docks, to Sunset Beach, to the downtown.

Thank you for the support of the Tarpon Springs Board of Commissioners, Tarpon Springs Police Department, Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue, and the City's Planning and Zoning Department to make for a successful event.
