Mosquitoes can spread illness and may bite indoors or outdoors at any time. Use an age-appropriate insect repellent as directed, keep doors and windows closed or properly screened and repair holes in screens. At least once a week, empty or cover items that can collect standing water, such as buckets, birdbaths, pet dishes, gutters and tires. Even a small amount of water left standing for more than a week can become a breeding site.

DOH-Pinellas is issuing this advisory due to two confirmed cases of locally-acquired dengue.

Clearwater is celebrating 110 years of library service!

Join us Sept. 14 for “Celebrating 110 Years: The Carnegie Legacy Continues,” a special celebration of where public library service in Clearwater began, the generations who helped shape it and the legacy that continues today.

It all goes back to 1916, when a grant from Andrew Carnegie helped establish Clearwater’s first public library on the same historic site where the Main Library stands today.

Stop by, explore a little library history and help us celebrate 110 years — with many more chapters still to come.

Sept. 14, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Clearwater Main Library, Heritage Studio, fourth floor
100 N. Osceola Ave.
