๐’๐‚๐€๐Œ ๐€๐‹๐„๐‘๐“ โ€” The Cleburne Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be members of the police department.

Reports indicate callers are falsely identifying themselves as Cleburne Police Department personnel, including command staff members such as the Assistant Chief of Police. The scammers use official-sounding language and may attempt to pressure individuals into providing personal information, making payments, or taking immediate action to avoid supposed legal consequences.

Residents are reminded that the Cleburne Police Department will never demand payment over the phone, request gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers, or threaten immediate arrest for failure to make a payment.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Cleburne Police Department, do not provide personal or financial information. Hang up and contact the department directly using a known, verified phone number to confirm whether the call is legitimate.

Scammers often rely on fear, urgency, and the use of trusted names or titles to convince victims to comply. We encourage residents to share this information with family members, friends, and neighbors, especially older adults who are frequently targeted by these schemes.

This proclamation recognizes the dedicated men and women of the Cleburne Police Department, along with law enforcement officers across the nation, who serve their communities with courage, professionalism, and integrity.

Today, May 15, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day, a day set aside to honor the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to remember the families who continue to carry their legacy.

Chief Severance has dedicated decades to public service and law enforcement leadership. Since being appointed Chief of Police for the City of Cleburne in 2012 following a nationwide search, he has led the department with a strong focus on professionalism, innovation, and community-oriented policing.

A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Chief Severance has received numerous certifications, awards, and recognitions throughout his career, including the Texas Police Chiefs Association Innovation Award and being named Johnson Countyโ€™s โ€œBest City Employeeโ€ in both 2024 and 2025.

Throughout National Police Week, we have recognized the men and women who serve our community each day. We are proud to recognize Chief Severance for his leadership, service, and continued commitment to the City of Cleburne.

As we continue recognizing National Police Week, we are proud to highlight our Criminal Investigations Unit. ๐Ÿ’™โš–๏ธ

The Criminal Investigations Unit is responsible for handling some of the departmentโ€™s most complex and time-intensive cases. Behind every case is the work of following leads, evaluating evidence, conducting thorough interviews, preparing legal documentation, and working closely with prosecutors and partner agencies at the local, state and federal level.

From crimes against persons and property crimes to financial crimes and crimes against children, CIU plays an important role in seeking justice for victims, supporting families, and helping bring cases to a successful resolution.

We are grateful for the effort, skill, and steady commitment our detectives put into their work as they serve the citizens of Cleburne.

As we observe National Police Week, we are proud to highlight our Assistant Chiefs, Linn Goodman and Craig Huskey.๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Assistant Chief Goodman has served with the Cleburne Police Department since 2004 and was appointed Assistant Chief in 2017. Throughout his career, he has served in several leadership roles and has been involved in regional emergency preparedness and communications efforts. He currently serves on the Johnson County Radio Advisory Board and as chairman of the Fort Worth Regional Radio System Interoperability Committee. Chief Goodman earned his degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Tarleton State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Assistant Chief Huskey has served with the Cleburne Police Department since 2000 and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2020. Throughout his career, he has served in several specialized and leadership roles, including narcotics and special crimes, patrol, professional standards, the Emergency Response Team and the Crash Investigation Team. Chief Huskey earned both his bachelorโ€™s degree and masterโ€™s degree in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University.

Their leadership, experience and dedication continue to make a lasting impact on our department and the citizens of Cleburne.

We would like to thank Assistant Chief Goodman and Assistant Chief Huskey for their continued leadership, service and commitment to the Cleburne Police Department.

As we continue recognizing National Police Week, today we are proud to highlight our School Resource Officers. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’™

Our SROs do far more than provide safety and security on campus. They serve as mentors, role models, educators, and trusted faces for students, staff, and families throughout our community. Every day, they work to build positive relationships, encourage students, and help create a safe environment where learning can thrive.

Whether they are assisting during emergencies, supporting school events, mentoring students, or simply being someone a child can talk to, our SROs make a lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom.
