Tarrant County just cut Election Day polling locations by nearly 30%; from 316 in the 2022 midterms to just 224 this November.

They also cut early-voting locations from 50 to 47.

Three locations might sound trivial.

Until you remember that just last year, Tarrant County had already slashed its early-voting locations nearly in half.

This isn’t happening in a county that’s shrinking. Tarrant County has more than 2 million residents and continues to grow.

Supporters of the cuts say they’re about efficiency, cost and eliminating low-use locations. Critics argue that fewer polling places create additional barriers to voting.

Here’s the question that should cause to pause:

If your policies are good for the people, why wouldn’t you want to make it easier for every qualified voter ~ Republican, Democrat or Independent ~ to cast a ballot?

Democracy works best when more eligible voters participate, not when voting becomes less convenient.

Whatever your party, protecting access to the ballot should not be controversial.

Make your plan.
Know where you can vote.
Show up.
