The Johnson County ESD No. 1 Honor Guard was deeply honored to be asked to serve as the Honor Guard for Bryan Crane. Standing alongside CareFlite to honor and remember Bryan and his family was a privilege we do not take lightly. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do — to serve, to stand together, and to ensure that those who gave so much are never forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Crane family and the CareFlite community.

An extended appreciation to our neighboring departments; Burleson FD, Crowley FD and Fort Worth Fire/EMS for providing assistance and personnel to aid in honoring this service.

Incident Commander
Prep School
June 23-25, 2026
Johnson County ESD 1
Cleburne, Texas

The goal of the program is not just to teach the strategic aspects of command, but to also add another level, developing the tactical decision-making process, as well.

Participants will be placed in a variety of challenging roles.

Often it will feel as if they are in the middle of a stressful incident.

This challenging program will put the most experienced command officer to the test, while still providing valuable lessons for the newest.

Incident Commanders will witness a dynamic emergency scene driven by the sound decisions of the IC.

This program is presented in a classroom setting for the sharing of didactic information. It then transitions to breakout groups, and scenario-based simulation exercises. This is a 3-day program.

Upon completion of this program, the student will demonstrate an understanding and show competence in the following areas:

The differentiation between strategy and tactics.

Effective span of control, delegation of responsibilities, risk management, and sound incident management principles.

Correct use of incident management principles including groups, divisions, supervisors, and branches.

The importance of ongoing documentation of an incident related to objectives, benchmarks, tactic of resources and personnel.

The effective applications for the use of incident command teams for all incidents based around available local resources.
