We’re excited to share a special look at the history of the Shore Scholars Program and the legacy behind it.

The program is rooted in the generosity of Wayne and Bradley Shore, whose lives were shaped by hard work, perseverance, and a deep connection to Yadkin County. Through a transformational gift to the Shallow Ford Foundation, their legacy continues to invest in this community.

Shore Scholars is one way that legacy lives on, supporting local students through mentorship, workshops, and hands-on experiences that build confidence, leadership, and a sense of purpose.

This video premiered during this year’s induction ceremony as we welcomed a new class of scholars. It reflects where the program began, the values behind it, and the impact continuing today.

Big impact doesn’t always begin with a tidal wave. Sometimes, it starts with a single ripple. A recurring gift of even $10 a month can create lasting waves of support for nonprofits, students, and community needs across the communities you care about.

Monthly giving creates a steady current of generosity — one that helps strengthen communities over time and allows impact to continue flowing where it’s needed most. Those small ripples grow into meaningful change.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a local impact in a manageable way, recurring giving is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to help create lasting momentum in our region. Support the Community Fund or explore other causes that matter to you: www.sff.gives

🎨 A full class gathered at the Historic Broyhill last Friday for Muddy River Art Association’s colored pencil workshop! Funded through a Bingham Arts Grant, the class brought artists together for a morning of creativity and connection.

Emmy stopped by to see it in action and capture a few great moments. We’re proud to support creativity like this in Clemmons through the Bingham Arts Grants, made possible by the Thad and Mary Bingham Community Fund!

✨ We were proud to welcome a new class of Shore Scholars this past Saturday morning! The Shore Scholars Induction Ceremony marked the beginning of an incredible journey for this year’s cohort of 11 rising juniors and seniors from Forbush High School and Starmount High School.

We had a great turnout for the ceremony, and it was especially meaningful to see so many family members and supporters there to celebrate these students. Thank you to everyone who joined us—you made the morning even more special for our newest scholars. 💙

The ceremony included remarks from Foundation staff, former Shore Scholar Carly Phillips, and Yadkin County Schools Superintendent Anthony Davis, offering encouragement as our newest scholars begin their journey in the program.

Selected through a competitive process, these students have shown a strong commitment to meaningful engagement, mentorship, and support while developing the confidence and skills needed for future success. We’re excited to see what lies ahead for each of them!

We’re grateful to the Yadkin Arts Council and Cultural Center for letting us use Willingham Theater and, most importantly, to the Shore family for making this life-changing program possible for Yadkin County students

Earlier this week, our Shore Scholars wrapped up the semester with a fun Arts & Culture Night—complete with a taco bar in celebration of Cinco de Mayo and a hands-on painting workshop led by guest artist Kevin Casteel, owner of Paint, Palette & Pizzazz! It was such a meaningful way to celebrate all they’ve accomplished this semester while spending time creating and connecting. We’re grateful for each of these students and the energy they bring to this program!
