"It's kind of a double dose of people going on vacation." With school out for the summer, more of you are traveling away from Clemson right now. DID YOU KNOW? โ“ To give residents peace of mind, the Clemson Police Department offers a free Vacation Watch program to keep an eye on your home while you are away - any time of year.

"We know based on that application that there's nobody there, or if somebody is checking on the house, who it's supposed to be," Chief Campos said. "This helps us kind of direct our patrols and gives us a little more of an indication if something doesn't look quite right."

Remember, if you see something, say something and report any suspicious activity. ๐Ÿ”— To let officers know when your home should be added to the list of routine patrols, visit https://www.clemsoncity.org/366/Vacation-Watch-Request.

On this solemn Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness ensure the freedoms we hold so dear. Today, as we stand in reflection, we extend our deepest gratitude to all fallen heroes, their families, and all who have served. Their legacy of valor will forever be etched in the heart of our country. โค๏ธ

Here at Earle J. Anderson Park, we are reminded of one such hero, Earle J. Anderson himself. A proud Clemson native and an exceptional graduate of D.W. Daniel High School, Earle became a dedicated Marine AV-8B Harrier pilot. Tragically, he gave his life in service at just 25 years old during a training mission in the Sea of Japan in 1990. The park, and the enduring "Earle Anderson Award" at his alma mater, stand as a testament to his remarkable life and the unwavering spirit of excellence and patriotism he embodied.

EXCELLENCE IN ENFORCEMENT! ๐Ÿš” Did you know our very own Clemson Police Department was recently recognized as SC "Agency Of The Year" for DUI Enforcement? A combination of strict enforcement, new forensic ID technology and community partnerships is making all the difference.

โ€œI think itโ€™s working because the folks that weโ€™re partnering with understand what the problem is and want to do the right thing. We are there for them just as much as they are there for our community,โ€ said Chief Jorge Campos.

With more than 100 DUI arrests and hundreds of alcohol-related charges recorded in 2025 alone, CPD continues to set a statewide standard and lead by example. Congratulations! ๐Ÿ‘

** SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT โ€“ MAY 22 โ€“ MAY 25 **

Motorists across South Carolina will see additional law enforcement over the next few days as the SC Department of Public Safety conducts special enforcement over the long Memorial Day weekend.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers and STP officers will focus on enforcing all traffic violations, with a special emphasis on impaired driving; speeding and aggressive driving; seatbelt usage; and distracted driving and hands-free violations. Troopers will be positioned every 10 miles on all major interstates to help enforce safe driving practices.

Memorial Day is the unofficial kickoff to summer and the official start of the 100 Deadly Days of Summer, when we historically see an increase in traffic fatalities. Please enjoy the season responsibly by buckling up, slowing down, and eliminating distractions. And remember โ€” if alcohol is a part of your plans, designate a sober driver.
