We're excited to introduce Brian Garrison, one of the newest members of the Friends of the Green Crescent Trail Board of Directors!

Brian and his family live along the GCT and regularly walk and run on the trails with their two boys and golden retriever. After a long career in national sales, Brian now works locally and is eager to use his experience building partnerships to strengthen community engagement and help advance the Green Crescent Trail's mission.

Brian's favorite spot is Brooks Street connecting to Gateway Park and enjoys the quiet, tree-lined route where he can walk with his family and dog while staying connected to the heart of our community. Brian believes that the the trial is "Connecting communities and a valuable asset."

We're grateful to have Brian's enthusiasm, local perspective, and partnership experience helping us build a safer, healthier, and more connected future for Clemson, Central, and Pendleton.

Today we’re highlighting another new board member Chris Eleazer, a Friends of the Green Crescent Trail board member who believes connected trails can strengthen both community and quality of life.

Chris was inspired to get involved through his friend Justin Mann, whose passion for the Green Crescent Trail helped him see the value of a connected system of safe, walkable, and bikeable pathways across our communities.

Living in downtown Clemson and working in Seneca, Chris enjoys walking around the lake, campus, and downtown — and especially enjoys longer walks connecting Clemson, Central, and Pendleton. For him, trails are a way to experience different parts of the community while enjoying the outdoors.

As Chris puts it: “I am confident that the Green Crescent Trail will better connect our communities while giving people more opportunities to safely walk, bike, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.”

We’re grateful for Chris’s enthusiasm and vision as we continue building a healthier, more connected future together. 💚

Have you heard? A new kind of energy is rolling through Clemson.

The new Clemson Skate Park — built by the City of Clemson and located along the Green Crescent Trail in Clemson Park — is already becoming a gathering place full of motion, laughter, and connection.

Designed for “all wheels,” the park welcomes skateboards, bikes, scooters, roller skates, rollerblades, and even wheelchairs. More than a place to skate, it’s a space where people of all ages can gather, move, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Haven’t visited yet? Take a walk or ride down the trail and check it out.

Today we’re highlighting Thompson Mefford, a Friends of the Green Crescent Trail new board member who believes trails do more than connect places — they connect people.

Living near downtown Clemson and working in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Science at Clemson University, Thompson sees the Green Crescent Trail as a unique asset that brings together healthy living, outdoor recreation, and conservation.

One of his favorite local routes loops through Gateway Park, Clemson Park, Perimeter Road, and the Dikes — a reminder of how connected and accessible our community can be.

As Thompson puts it: “The Green Crescent Trail is more than a path... it’s a place where community, outdoor fun, and nature come together.”

We’re grateful for Thompson’s support and shared vision for a healthier, more connected community. 💚

Today we’re highlighting Jerry McCormick, a new Green Crescent Trail board member whose lifelong journey with trails now continues in Pendleton, South Carolina.

Jerry’s story began in the 1960s leading wilderness trail crews in Colorado — an experience that sparked a deep, lasting connection to nature. Over the years, he served as a wilderness ranger in Arizona, managed trail systems in the Lake States, and even designed a wetland trail in Oklahoma.

Today, he volunteers locally with Pendleton Pride In Motion and the Friends of the Green Crescent Trail, helping maintain the trails and connecting with others who share a love for the outdoors.

As a board member, Jerry is excited to help connect Pendleton, Clemson, and Central through the 15x30 initiative — building a more walkable, connected community.

As he puts it, being on a trail is like “dancing with Mother Nature.”

We’re grateful to have Jerry on this journey with us. 💚
