Happy Labor Day, Tiger Nation!
Today is a day to recognize the working people who make our community and our public schools work.
I’m especially grateful for the incredible people who serve our students and families every day as members of CH-UH’s bargaining units:
🐯 CHTU Local 795: Our incredible teachers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, librarians and media staff, nurses, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, instructional specialists, home/school liaisons, and other educational professionals.
🐯 OAPSE Local 102: Our paraprofessionals, lead paraprofessionals, associate instructors, secretaries, and cleaners.
🐯 OAPSE Local 617: Our custodial, maintenance, transportation, and technology staff. The people who care for our buildings, keep our systems running, and get our students safely to and from school.
🐯 School Monitors Unit, represented by CHTU: Our school monitors who help keep our schools safe, welcoming, and supportive for students throughout the school day.
🐯 EAPSC, Educational Administrative and Professional Staff Council: Our bargaining-unit principals, assistant principals, executive directors, directors, coordinators, and supervisors who help lead and support our schools and district.
Public education is people. Every lesson taught, bus driven, building cleaned, student supported, tech problem solved, family helped, and school led happens because someone comes to work each day committed to our kids. Our buildings are nothing without the people working inside them; making Tiger Nation what it truly is.
I’m proud to serve a school district with such talented and dedicated employees, and grateful for the organized labor that has helped generations of working people have a voice in their workplaces.
To all of our CH-UH employees and working people throughout our community, thank you for what you do.
Happy Labor Day!
