Hello CEM Supporters!
We wanted to reach out to you to thank you again for all your hard work last year. Because of you, we will be electing a mayor in 2021 for the first time in 100 years! That mayor will then appoint a city administrator to run day to day operations at City Hall. Thanks to you, Cleveland Heights will have leadership that is directly accountable to the voters.
We also wanted to urge you to stay involved. There is much to be done between now and the mayoral election next year. Here are some of the issues coming our way this year:
• On Tuesday, Feb 18 @ 7:30 pm, City Council will vote on the financing for the Top of the Hill project
• March/April the City Manager will be announcing her plans to reorganize the Housing Dept
• City Council is planning on revisiting the RFP for Severance and hopefully moving forward with a plan to redevelop
• There will be several very important decisions that need to be made regarding the transition from a City Manager form of government to a Mayor/Council form of government
• The City will be assisting with the 2020 census that will, in part, determine our eligibility for state and federal funding
• The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District has an operating levy on the March 17 primary ballot. Early voting begins February 19.
Although CEM is not taking a position on any of these issues, we do feel strongly about the need for our entire community to stay involved. We hope to see you soon, and again, thank you for bringing home that tremendous victory last November!
