Councilman Brian Kazy

Cleveland City Councilman Ward 13 It includes the West Side neighborhoods of Bellaire-Puritas and part of West Park. He and his wife, Dawn, have five children.

Councilman Brian Kazy represents Ward 16, which stretches from the City of Lakewood border near West 117th Street to the border of the City of Brook Park. Councilman Kazy is chairman of council's Utilities Committee as well as the Mayor's Appointments Committee. He also serves on three other committees -- Safety; Municipal Services & Properties, and Finance. Councilman Kazy is working to improve

streets and parks in his ward and is committed to organizing community meetings for residents to air their concerns. Councilman Kazy regularly walks door-to-door engaging with residents one-on-one. On some of his walks, he is joined by representatives of city departments, including Safety and Building & Housing. Councilman Kazy was re-elected in November, 2017, to a four-year term after being appointed and then elected to the Ward 16 seat which had been vacated by a former council member. Councilman Kazy, a former Cuyahoga County probation officer working with juveniles and adults, has been engaged in local Democratic politics and community organizations for decades. He has served as a precinct committeeman, a ward leader and a member of the executive board of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. Councilman Kazy, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, graduated from St. Edward High School and Bowling Green State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.

West 140th Street Update:

West 140th between Puritas Ave and Lorain is now open to two way traffic going both North and South. West 140th between Lorain Ave and Triskett Ave will be one way going North starting on September 9th. That portion will be North bound only for about a month. West 140th from Triskett Ave to Lakewood Heights Blvd. is slated to be repaved starting in the Spring of 2027. The West 140th entrance to I90 is slated to open in December. Enjoy the new portion of 140th!

Jefferson Rocks Westpark!
Carlos Jones and the PLUS band are batting clean up this year as the 4th of 4 concerts is Wednesday night. Join us at Jefferson Park for a night of friends, food and music. Opening Act at 6:30pm and Carlos on stage from 8:00-10:00. Hope to see you there!!

Today I had the honor and privilege of meeting, dining and having an awesome conversation with a true Cleveland legend. Jules Belkin, co-founder with his brother Mike, of Belkin Productions in Cleveland. Jules and his brother were responsible for putting Cleveland on the map as a place for Rock-N-Roll. During the 70’s and 80’s, Jules brought young Rock-N-Roll acts such as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Bob Seger, The Beach Boys, The James Gang, Michael Stanley, Wild Cherry, Donnie Iris and many, many others. He was also the first US promoter to launch the career of David Bowie who played his first US concert in Cleveland. I inquired as to the nicest or best act he had the privilege of working with and without hesitation, his answer was Phil Collins and Genesis. Had nothing but praise for Phil and his wife. When I inquired as to who the most difficult and needy person was, again without hesitation he responded, Barbara Streisand and then quickly moved on. When asked what his greatest accomplishment was, he simply stated: The World Series of Rock. An iconic music venue that played at Cleveland Municipal stadium from 1974-1989. I could go on
and on but, you get the gist. The stories are legendary…

Tomorrow is the Expungement and Legal Clinic. If, at some time you hit a snafu in life and need help clearing things up, here is your opportunity. Misdemeanors, felonies and open warrants can be addressed. What can not be helped are: Traffic Offenses, Violent Crimes, S*x crimes or crimes involving children 14 or under. Plenty of help and attorneys will be on hand to help!

This Wednesday kicks off our Summer Concert Series at Jefferson Park located at West 132nd and Lorain. This week it’s Bronx Country hitting the stage at 8:00pm with the opening act, Eraserhead at 6:30pm. Bounce house for the kids, beer garden, food and fun. Free event! Hope to see you all there!
