TRAFFIC NOTICE: Skitts Mountain Road Closure

Skitts Mountain Road will be closed to through traffic for a tree removal project beginning Monday, June 1 at 8:00 AM through Wednesday, June 3 at 5:00 PM, weather permitting.

The work will take place on county right of way near 3050 Skitts Mountain Road. For the safety of the public and crews, Skitts Mountain Road will be barricaded between New Bridge Road and Skitts Mountain Drive in Hall County.

Anyone who normally travels this area is asked to use an alternate route during the closure.

The White County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed FY 2026/2027 Budget on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. in the White County Administration Building Board Room, located at 1235 Helen Hwy., Cleveland, GA.

The Board will also hold a Called Meeting on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to consider adoption of the FY 2026/2027 Budget. This meeting will also take place in the Administration Building Board Room.

Copies of the proposed draft budget summary will be available for public inspection beginning Thursday, May 28, 2026, online at www.whitecountyga.gov/finance/page/budgets or at the Administration Building during normal business hours.

ROAD WORK HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR TODAY DUE TO WEATHER -- The repairs will began tomorrow (5/27) weather permitting.

Roy Powers Road Bridge Repairs | The White County Road Department will close Roy Powers Road at both sides of the wooden bridge for bridge deck repairs beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 7:30 a.m.

During the repair work, there will be no thru traffic across the bridge.

The closure is expected to remain in place 24 hours a day through Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. The roadway will not reopen each evening during the project.

Offices will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 26.
