This is no accident, starting with Puerto Rico by "mistake" is just the beginning of their attack on our community.

They’re targeting the territories first because residents there have less political power, fewer constitutional protections, and no voting representation in Congress.

It’s the easiest and most logical way for them to move forward. When lawmakers want to test how far they can go, they rarely start with those who can fight back. They begin with communities they believe will be ignored.

Recently, Republican Rep. Morgan Griffith proposed legislation to establish a different birthright citizenship standard for people born in Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

This means a rule based solely on where you're bor, same flag, same federal government, but different rights. And the people most impacted can’t even vote him out.

That’s not democracy it's colonialism with different branding.

"Are you an American citizen?"

These are the words many of my people hear before being taken to a fenced camp simply for seeking a better life, a life this country claims to welcome.

No matter who utters them, these words evoke fear in many immigrants, as they may be the last words they hear before being separated from their families. During the Obama administration, approximately 3 million people heard these words before being deported, with dozens of children missing and separated from their loved ones. However, under the Trump administration, the numbers have increased significantly, surpassing those of previous presidencies. And this isn't about politics; it's about human rights and lives.

So next time you ask someone, "Are you an American citizen?" remember the fear you're spreading. Consider the xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment behind that question. Especially in a nation where immigrants are working harder than actual Americans! If you criticize Trump but still ask questions like this, how different are you from him?

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to Ward 7 Councilmember Austin Davis. Standing up against Town Hall and Bobby George as an elected official is a significant and courageous act. The era of George's reign of terror and corruption is coming to an end. Bobby George has been responsible for many unspeakable crimes, crimes I have had the honor of holding him accountable to and protesting alongside my comrades at 50501 Ohio and within the Ward 7 community.

While the previous councilmember did little to hold Bobby George accountable, I commend Austin Davis for taking a firm stance. Please know that we support you, stand with you, and will continue to fight to ensure Town Hall does not have the opportunity to retain a liquor license.

Cleveland will not tolerate abusers. There is no room for domestic violence here or anywhere else!

I'm deeply disappointed, angry, and pi**ed (if you wanna call it that) about the decision to skip the Puerto Rican Parade/Festival this year. The team that took over the work of the HPOA really knew what they had on their hands, but this also falls on the failure of the new leadership of the HPOA. You can't set such a high precedent for an event that other groups can't really follow after you're gone.

My disappointment isn't about parading or partying. It's about the awareness that this parade represents. In a time when Boricuas and Latinos are being attacked left and right, this is the one place we have to gather and be us! A place to bring our culture to the Americanized Boricuas and teach the "no sabo" folks the real Boricua spirit. But with this parade being moved to next year, I’m asking Herencia Boriqueña Cleveland to use this time to educate our current community about the water crisis on the island and to secure funds to help our family and our people who are struggling there. We can't celebrate our Boricua roots when Boriken is suffering under a corrupt government.

My ask is simple, this isn’t a controversial or political thing. It’s an organizer’s ask to other organizers: ORGANIZE! In our world, breaks don’t exist. ORGANIZE! Our people in PR need it. ORGANIZE! You already disappointed us once, and you're just getting started, don’t do it twice. ORGANIZE!

MY STATEMENT ON REPORTED FBI RAID OF OHIO VOTING RIGHTS ORGANIZATION:

I am deeply concerned by reports that FBI agents raided an Ohio voter registration organization in Cleveland. This kind of action is not new—it represents voter suppression. Any efforts by federal law enforcement to intimidate eligible Ohioans from registering to vote are unacceptable. Both major parties, Republicans and Democrats, have affirmed the security of Ohio’s elections, and this can also be said for Libertarians and Green Party members. It’s crucial that all eligible voters in Ohio feel safe and confident when casting their ballots this November, rather than being intimidated by federal agents attempting to suppress voter turnout. We are a nation that refuses to give up, and we will stand strong in defending our voting rights!

I just saw this post shared by my council member here in Cleveland, Ward 12, and I have to say how terrible this is. Let's talk about this "White Investors" part for a moment. We live in the Little Arabia neighborhood, also known as Westown, which is predominantly owned and occupied by Middle Eastern residents. If you lived, resided, or even spent time in the neighborhood you serve, you would know this.

Now, let's discuss the issue of bad investors. The West Boulevard CVS lot was purchased by a minority group, and then a bunch of white people kicked them out of the neighborhood. So, if you don’t want white investors, maybe don’t kick all the people of color out of the neighborhoods.

Let me also clarify that you have no right to speak on this when your entire office staff is white AF, even though you serve a predominantly non-white ward with mostly non-English speakers. And since your staff doesn’t answer phones and you don’t even respond to emails, what can we really expect?

I'll end by saying this: if you don’t want white investors around, then respect minority investors too, and don’t push them out. Focus on your own ward and fix the Variety Theater. Show results, not just photo-op community clean-ups. Leave that to the mostly white group for a better Cleveland. And to not only point fingers at you, Nikki Hudson, and Austin Davis both hired white staff too though Davis' ward is mostly white, but Nikki isn’t so I don’t expect much from any of you at this point.
