What a great start to this year’s Pride season! We tabled our first of many Pride events in Northeast Ohio starting at Youngstown Community Pride 2026 in the tri-county area of Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties. It was terrific to see the hard work that organizations like Mahoning Valley Q***r Action are doing in this region.

May is ending, June is right around the corner. With our turn towards summer, Glisten Ohio: Northeast Ohio Hub begins the important work of gearing up for a PRIDE-full summer. Whether you are a West sider, East sider, South sider, or somewhere in between, no doubt members of the Glisten NEO leadership team will be in the vicinity at some point over the next few months.

As Glisten has rebranded and reaffirmed their commitment to LGBTQ+ youth nationally, they have sought to better align local chapters with national support. Several of the senior leadership of NEO has been in more regular communication with national staff members. When plans for summer Pride festivals came up, national leadership was impressed by just how many different Pride events we commit to every year. In their words, Glisten Northeast Ohio is the most active, in terms of attending events, of all chapters in the country. That is something we are incredibly proud of, especially given how few of us there are serving on the leadership team. I write this not to pat ourselves on the back, but to provide context in the national narrative of Glisten's work, of how much Northeast Ohio cares for and looks out for the LGBTQ+ population of the state.

We would not be able to attend so many amazing events if those events were not happening. To all of our partners in the community who continue to prove staunch allies against bigotry, racism, and discrimination, who stand up for the marginalized people in their communities and strive to make their neighborhoods inviting, safe places for all, we cannot thank you enough. We are so looking forward to a rainbow filled summer of activism, outreach, and renewal of spirit, hope, and togetherness as we continue to strive for the equitable society that everyone in this nation deserves. Can't wait to see you out there! Make sure to stop by and say hi! To quote Zebulon Mucklewain, "...we're out there, somewhere, looking for ya!"
