This morning several of our members attended a training event focused on the challenges we face during traffic accidents involving buses and other larger vehicles. We work directly with the Rescue Squads from both Iredell and Rowan county any time there is an accident requiring extrication. Today we learned more about the construction of buses and how to better prepare for a joint rescue effort with the Rescue Squads. When seconds count, we want to be prepared and know how to use every tool to our advantage. Thank you to Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Iredell Rescue for hosting this training and for the amazing meal afterwards! ⚠️Burn Ban Remains in Effect – Rowan County

** Please share **

Rowan County’s burn ban REMAINS in place until further notice, in conjunction with the North Carolina Forest Service. This is a unified decision between both authorities.

Even though many other counties across the state have lifted their bans, Rowan County HAS NOT. We are still seeing conditions and fire activity that justify keeping this in place.

To be clear:

* ❌ No outdoor burning is allowed
* 🔥 The only exception is food preparation on a safety-certified grill

This applies everywhere:

* Within 100 feet of a structure (County Fire Marshal’s Office)
* Beyond 100 feet (N.C. Forest Service)

There’s no gray area right now—if it’s not a grill for cooking, it’s not allowed.

We don’t take keeping this in place lightly, but we’re making decisions based on what we’re seeing here locally—not what other counties are doing.

We’ll update you as soon as conditions improve. Until then, we need everyone’s cooperation.

⚠️ BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT ⚠️

Even though we received rain last night, Rowan County and surrounding areas are STILL under a statewide burn ban.

Our area continues to experience severe drought conditions, and experts estimate it will take approximately 24–30 inches of rainfall to fully recover from the current drought conditions.

🔥 Please remember:

• Outdoor burning is prohibited
• Fires can quickly spread despite recent rain
• Dry ground and vegetation remain a major concern

🚨 The North Carolina Forest Service, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, and Fire Marshall’s Office are actively enforcing the burn ban. Citations and fines are being issued to those found in violation.

We ask everyone to do their part to help protect our firefighters, homes, businesses, and community from preventable wildfires.

Burn Ban in Effect — No Burning Allowed

I’ve been getting several comments and reports about people still burning trash in barrels around Rowan County, so I want to pass this along:

Rowan County remains under a state and county-wide burn ban.

🚫 This includes burn barrels
🚫 Yard debris and land clearing burns
🚫 Any outdoor burning

With dry conditions, warm temperatures, and occasional gusty winds, fires can spread quickly and become dangerous in a short amount of time. Fire crews are already responding to brush fires across the area.

This ban is issued by state and local officials, and it’s in place for everyone’s safety.

Please help keep our community safe by following the burn ban.
