The USS Cleveland arrived at the port of Cleveland this morning and the USCG Auxiliary was there to es**rt her in.

Due to inclement weather, Boating/Sailing Skills & Seamanship courses will now begin on Wednesday, January 28th and run through March 25th.

Courses are held from 7:00-9:15 PM at:
Garfield Middle School 13114 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, OH 44107

Upcoming Boating Safety Classes:

According to the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources boating statistics, drowning is the number one cause of death.

In Ohio anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 and operating a vessel with an engine 10 horsepower or more is required to complete a NASBLA (National Association State Boating Law Administrators) safe boating course.
U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 75 is offering two in depth boating safety courses including the Boat America course material which will qualify one for the Ohio boater card
as well as a possible insurance discount.

The courses will run on Wednesdays, January 28-March 25 from 7:00-9:15 P.M. at: Garfield Middle School 13114 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, OH 44107

Boating Skills & Seamanship – materials $45.00
Powerboat oriented. Boat handling skills and safety training including boating nomenclature, VHF marine radio procedures, navigation rules, etc.

Sailing Skills & Seamanship - materials $45.00
Introductory sailing course emphasizing safety, how a boat sails, sailboat maneuvering, navigation rules, VHF marine radio procedures, weather, etc.

Last night members from flotillas around the CLeveland area enjoyed some fellowship time via a tour of the GoodTime III. Is always good to learn about our partners on the water to better accomplish our missions. Thanks to the owner and captain of the GoodTime III for letting us come aboard.
