Joseph & Mary’s Home is very fortunate to share that we recently received a generous grant from the Edwin D. Northrup II Fund! The grant will go toward feeding our residents, who each receive three nutritious meals a day while living here.

Thank you to the Edwin D. Northrup II Fund for recognizing the importance of caring for the whole person. This generous grant helps us provide healthy, filling food so our men and women can feel their best while on the path toward recovery and a return to self-care.

Earlier this summer, we welcomed the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) to Joseph & Mary's Home for a monitoring visit. We're proud to share that, following their evaluation, we passed! The visit was connected to funding Joseph & Mary's Home receives through ODOD's Supportive Housing Program, with money coming from the Ohio Housing Trust Fund.

We are very grateful to the state of Ohio for their continued partnership with Joseph & Mary's Home, and especially extend our gratitude to ODOD's Russ Neumann and Tayler Jessup for their support throughout the process. Sustaining this work is a collective responsibility, and Ohio's support allows Joseph & Mary's Home to continue providing care to our most vulnerable neighbors.

After healing at Joseph & Mary's Home, Gerald has regained both his physical and emotional strength, and is ready to transition to his new place to live and continue to rest comfortably!

To help Gerald begin this new chapter, the bed pictured here was purchased thanks to donors who believe in new beginnings and have supported Joseph & Mary's Home's Journey Home Fund. ICYMI: Joseph & Mary's Home launched an updated referral process this spring in order to make access to care more consistent, efficient and transparent for partners and those seeking assistance here. This updated referral process allows staff to better track referral patterns, understand community need and make more objective admission decisions.

Donor-advised funds (DAF) offer a simple, flexible and tax-advantageous way to give to favorite charities. John and Diane, a Cleveland area couple, use their DAF to support Joseph & Mary’s Home.

"The best way we can give back is through our DAF so organizations can help people, help themselves," said John. We don’t have the ability to do the outreach on our own. But we know the assets we do have can contribute to someone else, like the Joseph & Mary’s Home staff, doing a good job." In 2025, the average length of stay at Joseph & Mary's Home was 79 days. Nearly 4 in 5 residents - just under 80 percent - had a chronic health condition, while 47 percent had a physical disability.

Since February 2025, Tearra Smith has served as Joseph & Mary's Home's sole certified community health worker (C-CHW). Her responsibilities include coordinating care across providers, facilitating access to housing, benefits and essential services, and ensuring each resident has a clear, supportive path toward stability and independence.
