Morning Routine at Station 51
One question we get asked often is, "What does a typical morning look like around the fire station?"
For our members, it's not much different than what you'd see at a paid department. The day starts with apparatus and equipment checks to ensure we're ready when the next emergency call comes in.
Pictured is Probationary Firefighter Esther Hostler conducting morning run checks at Station 51 on Highway 321. These checks are completed daily on all four apparatus assigned to the station and are a critical part of our emergency response readiness.
The morning inspection includes:
Checking engine and apparatus fluid levels
Verifying all emergency equipment is present and operational
Inspecting SCBA air packs and cylinders
Ensuring tools, hose, and medical equipment are accounted for
Confirming apparatus are fueled, stocked, and ready for service
While these photos only show a small portion of the process, they highlight the commitment and responsibility required before the first call of the day ever comes in.
