🗳️ OHIO’S NEXT GOVERNOR COULD SHAPE THE FUTURE OF GUN POLICY IN OUR STATE
As Ohio’s 2026 race for governor moves toward November, the candidates are presenting notably different approaches to fi****ms, gun violence and public safety.
Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has positioned himself as a strong defender of Second Amendment rights and has opposed additional restrictions on law-abiding gun owners.
Democratic candidate Dr. Amy Acton has called for “common sense reforms” aimed at reducing gun violence, while also emphasizing investments in law enforcement, mental health, addiction treatment and community-based programming.
The differences matter. Ohio’s next governor could play an important role in determining whether the state continues its recent direction on fi***rm laws or moves toward new gun-safety measures.
For organizations, communities and residents working every day to make our neighborhoods safer, this is an important policy conversation to follow.
