Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Eric Krueger and Officer Joe Popov, who were recognized at last night’s council meeting by the Cleveland Clinic Emergency Medical Services Team for their life-saving actions following a tragic motor vehicle crash on July 18.

Their quick thinking and training, including the proper application of tourniquets to one of the victims, helped save her life.

We are incredibly proud of Sergeant Krueger and Officer Popov for their professionalism, courage, and dedication to serving our community when it mattered most. Well done! 👏🇺🇸

A couple of nights ago, a resident on Shaker Boulevard captured this individual on their security camera attempting to enter vehicles parked in the driveway overnight.

Fortunately, the attempt was unsuccessful. The vehicles were locked, and the motion-activated spotlight immediately illuminated the area, helping deter the individual before they could gain access.

This is a great reminder that simple steps can make a big difference:
🔒 Always lock your vehicles, even when parked in your driveway.
💡 Consider installing motion-activated lighting around your home.
🚪 Lock your home and garage doors before turning in for the night.

A few seconds of prevention can go a long way in protecting your property 🥰

Our agency and the entire Orange School District are proud to celebrate Officer Todd Bennett for being named the Ohio School Resource Officer of the Year!
Officer Todd, aka "OT", has faithfully served as the School Resource Officer for Orange City School District for the past 22 years. Since that time, Officer Todd has accomplished a lot. Here is just a small sample:
✅Teaches Safety Town every year.
✅ Developed the Adaptive Safety Town for children of all abilities with special needs.
✅ Participates in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics every year.
✅ Participates in the Orange Community Education & Recreation Trunk or Treat.
✅ Conducts a 6 week Personal Safety Seminar for adults with disabilities.
✅ Provides yearly Impaired Driving Prevention training for student drivers.
✅ Worked to develop our first Special Needs Registry
✅ Developed countless meaningful relationships with both the students, families, and staff of the Orange School Community.

Officer Todd is an asset to our police department and the families that live in this district, and we can't imagine a better representative or person more worthy of this award!

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a Rittman police officer who was killed in the line of duty last night. Our hearts go out to the officer’s family, loved ones, and the entire Rittman Police Department during this difficult time.
Our thoughts are also with the two officers and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office K-9 who were injured in the incident. We wish them strength and a full and swift recovery.
Your bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We stand with you. 💙🕊️

🐻 Black Bear Sighting

This black bear was caught on camera on Lawton Lane. While black bears are typically shy and prefer to avoid people, we encourage residents to remain aware and take a few simple precautions.

• Give bears plenty of space. Never approach, feed, or attempt to photograph a bear up close.
• Remove food sources. Secure trash cans, bring pet food and bird feeders indoors when possible, and eliminate anything that may attract wildlife.

Black bears are a natural part of Ohio’s wildlife and, in most cases, will continue on their way if left undisturbed.

If you observe a bear that poses an immediate threat to public safety, call 911. For non-emergency sightings, please call us at 216-831-1424, so we can help monitor activity and keep the community informed.
