We are a second chance, nontraditional high school serving students
at 19 campuses in North Georgia.

Our Beliefs:

-Students learn in different ways and learn best when provided with a choice of successful approaches to support their learning styles.
-Students learn best when they are actively engaged in an individualized, self-paced curriculum.
-Students learn more when they are responsible for their learning and behavior.
-Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotio

nal, and intellectual needs.
-Individual tutoring strengthens teacher-student relationships and facilitates student learning.
-Students are more successful when teachers perform the functions of motivator, facilitator, counselor, and tutor.
-Student learning is demonstrated by mastery of essential knowledge and skills.
-A low student-teacher ratio increases student learning.
-Learning is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect between staff and students.
-A safe and orderly environment promotes student learning.
-The commitment to continuous improvements is imperative for the school to enable students to become confident, self-direct, lifelong learners. Statistical Data:

-Students from 34 counties have been served.
-Students from age 14 to age 64 years have been served.
-Mountain Education has helped to decrease the seven-county collaborative dropout rate from 7.6% to 4.1%.
-Each year 25% to 33% of collaborative high schools’ graduates have made up failed classes at Mountain Education and have graduated on time with their peers.
-Mountain Education has increased the number of diplomas awarded from 3 in 1994, the first year of operation, to 500+ in the 2024 school year alone.

Looking ahead to the future and exploring how we can best serve the students in our communities through our Community Needs Assessment data! We had a productive day collaborating, conducting a deep dive into the data, and completing a SWOT analysis to identify ways to better meet the needs of our students. We wrapped up the day with a fun cookout lunch and great fellowship. Excited for what’s ahead!

Congratulations to our 2026 Alumni Association Scholarship recipients, Giulianna Alfieri from our Cherokee Campus and Jasmin Quinteros from our Hall Campus!

Giulianna plans to pursue a career in elementary education and musical theatre and hopes to attend Kennesaw State University as she continues following her passions both in the classroom and on the stage.

Jasmin plans to pursue a career as a pediatric psychiatric nurse and is currently deciding between Lanier Technical College and the University of North Georgia as she takes the next step toward making a difference in the lives of children and families.

We are incredibly proud of both of these outstanding students and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the future!
