Three of our members have successfully completed the Apparatus Operator – Pumper course at the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa!

This 40‑hour certification course is built around the NFPA 1010 Standard on Professional Qualifications for Firefighters and is designed to advance firefighters into skilled, competent apparatus operators.

During the course, they covered topics such as:
Preventive Maintenance, Tests & Inspections, Driving & Operating the Apparatus, Water Supply, Sprinkler & Standpipe Operations, and Fireground Pump Operations.

Students learned to:
Operate pumps from both pressurized and static water sources; relay pump operations; produce effective handlines, master streams, and foam streams; and support sprinkler and standpipe systems during emergencies.

This course was physically demanding, technically detailed, and nationally accredited, ensuring that operators can perform every task swiftly, safely, and competently.

In short: this certification directly increases the safety, readiness, and effectiveness of our department — and strengthens the protection we provide to our community every single day.

Join us in congratulating these three members for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving Cleveland with excellence!

🔥 HEAT‑RELATED CALLS ON THE RISE 🔥
Our crews have responded to several heat‑related emergencies across the area this week. The Alabama heat and humidity are no joke — even short exposure can lead to serious illness.

☀️ Know the signs: muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea, confusion, or hot, dry skin.
💧 Prevent heat injury: stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and check on neighbors and coworkers.

The Cleveland Fire Department reminds everyone — heat safety saves lives.
Stay alert, stay cool, and help us keep our community safe. 🚒💪

We want to send out another big thank you to DripDrop and National Volunteer Fire Council for including us in the 2026 DripDrop Hydration Giveback Campaign! This donation of DripDrop electrolyte drink mix will help keep our firefighters and EMS providers hydrated during training, emergency responses, extreme heat, and long incidents. Staying hydrated helps our crews perform at their best and stay safe on the job.

🎃🚒 CLEVELAND, IT’S TIME TO TRUNK OR TREAT! 🚒🎃

We’ve got the fire trucks. We’ve got the candy. We’ve got a bounce house. And for some reason, we’ve decided it would also be fun to let you compete against our Explorers. 😂

So grab the kids, break out the costumes, and come hang out with the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department at Cleveland Park!

📅 October 17, 2026
⏰ 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Cleveland Park

🍬 Trunk or Treat
🏆 Beat the Explorer Challenge
🏰 Bounce House
🎨 Face Painting
🍔 Food
🚒 Fire Trucks
🎃 And more!

BUT WAIT… WE NEED TRUNKS! 👻🍬

And no, pulling into the parking lot and opening your hatch does not count. 😂 We want to see some effort!

Go spooky. Go funny. Go completely over-the-top. Recruit your family, your church group, your business, your coworkers, or that one friend who starts decorating for Halloween in August.

🏆 Best Decorated Trunk wins a prize — and, more importantly, bragging rights.

Bring the kids, wear your costumes, collect entirely too much candy, check out the fire trucks, and come spend the evening with your local firefighters and neighbors. 🧡🖤
