10 million downloads demonstrate the power of open access.

October 19–25 is International Open Access Week, an annual opportunity to consider how knowledge is created, shared, and made accessible.

At Cleveland State University, we have something special to celebrate: EngagedScholarship @ CSU has surpassed 10 million downloads.

The University's open access repository makes research, scholarship, and creative work from CSU faculty, students, and staff freely available to readers around the world.

🎤 TEDxClevelandStateUniversity is just TWO days away!

We're excited to cheer on one of our own! Mandi Goodsett, Performing Arts and Humanities Librarian at the Michael Schwartz Library, will be among the featured speakers at this year's TEDxClevelandStateUniversity.

Mandi's talk, "The Cure for Cynicism Isn't More Suspicion," explores how curiosity can help us rethink our relationship with information, attention, and the digital world.

🎨 Celebrating National Arts Month: A Special Collection with a CSU Connection

October is National Arts Month, and the Michael Schwartz Library is celebrating with a special book display featuring materials generously donated by Lynne Reno, a Cleveland State University alumna and longtime art history educator.

Lynne's journey began at Cleveland State University, where she studied Art History. She later earned a master's degree in Library Science from Kent State University and devoted much of her professional career to teaching Art History at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.

Reflecting on her education, Lynne credits much of her success to the outstanding faculty who influenced her during her time at CSU, particularly June Hargrove, Jan van der Meulen, and Walter Leedy.

Her generous donation brings art history resources to a new generation of students, researchers, and art enthusiasts.

Join us tomorrow for Joining a Celebration, a special Connect with Faculty and Book Discussion event featuring Dr. Adrienne Gosselin.

We’ll be discussing Toni Morrison’s Sula on October 21, 2026, from Noon–1:30 pm. If you’ve already started reading, come ready for a thoughtful conversation. If you’re still working through the book, you’re still welcome to join us.

This event is part of Beloved: Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison, a statewide celebration honoring the life, literature, and legacy of Toni Morrison.

Friends help fund special resources, author and book programs, faculty workshops, cultural excursions, and recognition for our library staff and student workers.
