A new exhibit on the first floor features newspaper clippings, class photographs, vintage nursing attire, promotional brochures, and historical artifacts from Cleveland's Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing.
Founded in 1884 as the Cleveland Training School for Nurses, it was the first nursing school west of the Allegheny Mountains. Over 127 years of operation, more than 3,500 nurses graduated from this program β many of whom served in the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II. The school also forged a lasting partnership with Fenn College (now Cleveland State University), developing one of the most respected nursing programs in the country by the early 1970s.
