CASA advocates make unmistakable differences everyday in the children's lives everyday. 98% of CASA recommendations are implemented by juvenile court judges as they are very trusted in the court system. Over 5,000 children in Tennessee have a CASA volunteer advocating for them and their future. Our advocates are essential to so many children in Bradley and Polk counties every year in need of support and a voice.

Happy Friday! We hope as school is getting started that everyone is enjoying the changes. Make new friends, try new things, and be kind!

It is very important that children feel seen and heard while learning to navigate the world as they're growing up. As change and new things can be difficult for some children, stay vigilant in looking for changes in their behaviors in seasons such as a new school year. Let them know they can go to trusted adults at school if they need any help or guidance.

It is International Humanitarian Day! A humanitarian is a person who works to help others, stop pain, and make life better for people. At CASA our advocates are humanitarians everyday in Bradley and Polk counties for the children we work with! They go above and beyond to do what they can to make sure they have the future they deserve, regardless of the situation they are in. The world is a better place because of humanitarians, thank you!

It's National Nonprofit Day! As a nonprofit we are very grateful for our staff, advocates, donors, and amazing community that supports us! Every day we are able to focus on our mission of helping children who are enduring neglect, abuse, and detrimental adversities. CASA is a national wide organization that began in 1976 by Seattle Superior Court Judge David W. Soukup when he realized children lacked the support and voice they deserved while going through the court system. Since then we have been working diligently to be that voice and support for children around the country!

CASA's Executive Director Natalie Barrionuevo held a 3 hour ACE's training for our dedicated advocates. ACE ( Adverse Childhood Experiences) is an important training which better prepares our advocates to help and understand the children. It focuses on how experiences during childhood affect mental, emotional, and physiological development. Positive and negative experiences shape how children act and behave so it is critical to be aware of developments. Advocates need 12 hours of continuing education every year so every month we hold trainings to reach their goal. Advocate Kristina Sutera said about the training "Knowing the science behind why people have behaviors is so important. I think it's great that CASA puts on trainings like this for advocates." Our advocates are essential at CASA and we are always welcoming more!
