Cleveland’s resurfacing efforts continue to move forward as our Public Works team works diligently every day to improve the condition and safety of city streets. Through resurfacing and proactive maintenance, we are not only addressing current roadway concerns but also helping prevent potholes and deterioration from returning in future Winter seasons.

Street resurfacing is part of a broader, long-term strategy to maintain and strengthen Cleveland’s infrastructure citywide. This work is guided by ongoing assessments, planned improvements, and the goal of creating safer, smoother streets for residents in every neighborhood.

Today, the City of Cleveland proudly partnered with the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society to host a parade and memorial celebration as part of the 41st Annual Police Memorial Commemoration. This annual commemoration recognizes the dedication and service of law enforcement officers across our communities and honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Today was a powerful reflection of Cleveland’s commitment to honoring their legacy, recognizing their sacrifice, and supporting the families and communities they served.

I had the honor of welcoming the families of the USS Cleveland crew to our great city ahead of this weekend’s commissioning ceremony. This moment represents something truly historic for both Cleveland and our nation.

The commissioning of the USS Cleveland marks a milestone unmatched in American naval history, and this week’s celebration reflects the magnitude of that achievement. USS Cleveland Commissioning Week is more than a series of events. It is a citywide tribute that brings together sailors, veterans, families, community leaders, and residents from across Northeast Ohio to celebrate service, sacrifice, and patriotism.

Most importantly, this week is a reminder that behind every service member is a family whose strength, love, and support help carry them through every mission.

Welcome to Cleveland!
