🚨 BACK THEN THEY DIDN’T WANT ME… NOW WE GOT RIVER FESCUE, THEY ALL ON ME 🚨

Several weeks ago, Cleves Parks addressed public concerns regarding our grass, repeated flooding, and the increasingly suspicious behavior of local waterfowl.

We blamed the river.
We blamed the floods.
We blamed the geese.

We were asking the wrong question.

We never asked:

WHERE ARE THE GEESE COMING FROM?

Last night, a Xyoming delegation arrived at Taylor, where tensions apparently escalated into a full-scale turf dispute.

Allegations were made regarding Taylor’s grass. Goats were accused of striking. Lawnmowers were questioned. Fingers were deployed.

And that’s when Cleves Police noticed something.

Grass. Xyoming. Hostility.

We’ve seen this before.

Following absolutely minimal reconnaissance, investigators have now established what we believe to be the missing link in our own weeks-long Grassgate investigation:

🚨 THE GEESE ARE COMING FROM XYOMING. 🚨

For weeks, they’ve crossed municipal lines, entered Cleves airspace without authorization, eaten our grass seed and, perhaps, most disturbingly, attempted to spread their own “seed” throughout our parks.

Nice try, Xyoming. We don’t need it!

Cleves already grows Premium River Fescue™, a proprietary blend of grass, river sediment, goose p**p, and questionable upstream runoff. But, that’s not the point!

It can spend six feet underwater and somehow need mowed Thursday!

Flood tested. Goose approved. FEMA familiar.

But our investigation into last night’s incident DID uncover one thing Taylor has that Cleves desperately needs:

WHO IS THAT LANDSCAPER?!?!

Seriously.

BECKY. LOOK. AT. THOSE. STRIPES.

Somebody get us his number!

Cleves Parks is prepared to discuss competitive compensation and diplomatic immunity from all migratory waterfowl related investigations.

As of this evening:

🪿 Xyoming geese remain persons of interest
🌱 Foreign seed will be confiscated
👀 Xyoming airspace is being monitored
🚜 Taylor’s landscaper is officially a HIGH-VALUE RECRUITMENT TARGET
🖐️ Diplomatic relations remain… complicated
🥞 And somehow, the pancakes STILL have absolutely nothing to do with this

Residents should remain calm.

What started as a grass complaint has become something much bigger.

The investigation remains active.

At this exact moment 25 years ago, the North Tower of the World Trade Center was struck...

Within minutes, our country and our world would change forever.

25 years. It's hard to fathom because, in so many ways, it still feels like yesterday.

We remember exactly where we were. We remember how beautiful that morning was. Blue skies, sunshine, an almost perfect September day. Then came the disbelief, the dread of watching what was happening, and the fear of what might come next.

We witnessed unimaginable tragedy that day, but we also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and bravery.

For an entire generation of young Americans, that morning also became a defining moment. Some were young adults. Others were still children sitting in classrooms watching it unfold. In the years that followed, many of them would raise their right hand, put on the uniform, and serve our country in the fight against terrorism. Some would make the ultimate sacrifice. We remember them, too.

And in the hours and days that followed September 11th, we came together.

Nothing mattered more than being Americans, taking care of our neighbors, supporting our first responders, hugging our families tighter, and looking out for one another.

Today, we remember the 2,977 lives lost. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed, and all those who answered the call in the years that followed.

“Never Forget” has been said for 25 years.

Today, and every September 11th that follows, we keep that promise.

We remember.

🎓 Congratulations, Daniel!

A big congratulations to Daniel Gilligan, our Parks Coordinator and Waterworks Technician, on graduating today from the Center for Local Government Leadership Academy!

The Leadership Academy is a 6 month professional development program designed specifically for local government leaders. Participants learn from experienced practitioners and subject-matter experts in areas including leadership, effective communication, human resources, finance and budgeting, land use, economic development, and the day-to-day challenges of managing local government.

For Cleves, this is about more than completing a program. It’s about investing in our people, developing leaders from within, and continuing to raise the level of professionalism throughout our organization.

Daniel’s graduation represents another step in the next chapter of leadership, growth, and professionalism for the Village of Cleves.

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate the American worker by participating in one of our most sacred traditions... Not working!

Fire up the grill, enjoy the day, and if anyone asks you to do anything productive… remind them what holiday it is.

Of course, not everyone gets the day off. A special thank you to everyone working today, especially our first responders who continue to serve and keep our communities safe while the rest of us enjoy the holiday.

Thank you to the folks who keep reaching out to complain about the grass at the park.

Also, when I was a kid my grandma took me to Round Table and I ate 12 pancakes in one sitting. Soooo much syrup… Everywhere. Table, plate, hands, face, probably Grandma. It was a sticky situation.

I’m not entirely sure what that has to do with the grass at the park but it seemed equally relevant…

Anyway, we got your message 👍

The park has been underwater roughly 59% of the season, which turns out makes maintaining pristine turf a little difficult when the Great Miami River keeps volunteering to handle the irrigation. Now we keep seeding it, and these dagum geese acting like we opened a Golden Corral up in here!

But yes, the grass. We’re aware.
