Firefighters participated in a vehicle stabilization and extrication training this week. The training included reviewing safety procedures, removing the windshield without harm to the vehicle occupants, and using tools such as the Jaws of Life. Thank you to the Traband family for donating the car we used. Special thanks to MESFire for their expertise and training.

Today we honor Chief Jim Kneass for 50 years of volunteer fire service. He began his firefighting career with Bon Air in 1971 and became a member Clifton Heights Fire Company in 1976. Jim has held multiple positions with CHFC including Engineer, Chief Engineer, Lieutenant and Captain. He served as Assistant Chief for nearly 20 years and was elected Chief in 2004. Throughout his career, Chief Kneass has served with dignity and professionalism, earning the respect of his fellow firefighters. As Chief Kneass concludes his years of dedicated service, we thank him on behalf of the officers and members of the Clifton Heights Fire Company, the residents of the borough, and all he has worked with throughout the county. Thank you, Chief, and we wish you a long, happy and healthy retirement

Pennsylvania's new Move Over Law goes into effect today. The new law requires drivers to move into to the left lane when approaching an emergency vehicle with lights flashing -- including police officers, EMS crews and tow truck drivers -- or a disabled vehicle with proper indicators set up. If the driver can't safely move into the outer lane on a highway or multilane road, than the driver needs to slow to 20 mph under the speed limit.

Failure to comply can result in two points on your license, fines up to $2,000 and a 90-day license suspension.

It is with great sadness we share the news of the passing of Life Member Nathaniel "Nate" Wilson. Nate served with CHFC for more than 50 years as a firefighter, Engineer, Asst. Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, member of the Board of Directors, and member of several apparatus committees. The highlight of Nate's day was visiting the station for lunch with the guys - as recently as two weeks ago. He will be missed and we send our condolences and love to his family.

Hi friends! Just wanted to let you know Past "Chief John Gorman's" gear will be on display at Quirk and Co. in Cape May NJ this weekend for Fireman's Weekend. Also in honor of this I have created a replica ornament of the "Big Mack" which was my dad's first truck in 1948. It was also his favorite truck. Thanks to Jerry DePompeo it was also the truck that has laid many of your members to rest. Thank you for continuing the tradition that "Chief Gorman" started in this house on "the Pike". So happy to still see many familiar faces. I have an ornament that I have personalized with CHFD. I can also add a name if you would like. If you are interested please leave a comment below and I will contact you. Ornaments are $20 and can be delivered to the fire house.
On Saturday Oct 13th at 5 pm -10 pm, the Capt Matt LeTourneau Memorial Foundation will be holding a fundraiser at Putt Putt in Clifton Heights, PA. The money will be used for scholarships for post secondary education in fire science and for state (fire) certifications. $10 will be for two games, a soda, and a hot dog. A ticket is also good for one year. Help us Help the Firefighting community.
Thank you very much to the Clifton Heights Fire Department
