Tragedy struck yesterday at the intersection of Route 488 and Freshour Road in Hopewell, as emergency personnel responded to a fatal crash that resulted in a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI).

In the face of an incredibly difficult and complex scene, first responders from multiple agencies moved as one. Mercy Flight EMS - Finger Lakes joined forces with neighboring fire departments, law enforcement partners, and dispatchers in a remarkable display of teamwork, dedication, and professionalism under the most challenging circumstances.

They say "it takes a village," and yesterday, our emergency services community showed exactly what that means. While our hearts weigh heavy for everyone impacted by this devastating incident, we are immensely proud of the seamless collaboration and unwavering commitment shown by every responder on scene.

To every crew, officer, firefighter, and dispatcher who answered the call: thank you for your service, your professionalism, and your dedication to serving our community when it matters most. Please keep all those affected in your thoughts today.
