Good afternoon, Bosque County,

From our friends at the US National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas

🚨 Weather Alert for Bosque County 4/28/26 4:30pm🚨

Heads up, Bosque County!

We have a chance for thunderstorms today and tonight as a cold front moves through the area. While not everyone will see storms, any that develop could become strong to severe, especially this afternoon and evening.
The areas with the highest chance for severe weather will be generally along and east of I-35, but it’s still important for everyone to stay aware.

What this means in plain terms:
You may see strong storms pop up quickly
Possible hazards include large hail, strong winds, and heavy rain
Storms will be hit-or-miss, so some areas may stay dry
👉 What you should do:
Keep an eye on the weather this later afternoon and evening
Have a way to receive weather alerts
Be ready to move indoors quickly if storms approach
We’ll continue to monitor and provide updates as needed. Stay weather aware, Bosque County!

With the summer months coming we are asking once again for snack donations. There are times where we end up on fires for extended periods of time and these snacks really come in handy! Anything like jerky, peanut butter or cheese crackers, granola or protein bars, trail mix, drink powders, and Gatorade are the main needs. Items can be dropped of any of the first 3 Monday nights of the month, or you can drop them at the Clifton Police Department during business hours!

Thank you to Valley Mills Vol FD Cranfills Gap VFD, Bosque County Emergency Management, and everyone else who assisted us yesterday on a brush fire on CR 4240. This was not a huge fire, but it was hard to get to and put out. The Texas Forest Service responded and assisted in the effort. In total approximately 40 acres of cedar brush was involved.

This was originally called in and started as a controlled burn. It quickly got out of control. This is the second time we have responded to this same property for a controlled burn getting out of control.

Please use caution when conducting controlled burns. Wind conditions and weather conditions can change very quickly.

Even with rain, the top grass is still very dry.

We are currently working a brush fire on CR 4240. We have called the Texas Forest Service for their assistance along with Cranfills Gap and Valley Mills VFD.
