Like our post in December, today was another good day at CFD.

C-Shift personnel had the privilege of meeting a patient on whom they performed CPR back in April. This patient went into cardiac arrest at a residence and received immediate CPR from neighbors who were present. Neighbors promptly called 911 and began CPR. Clinton County Communications received the 911 call, assisted with verbal CPR instructions, and dispatched Clinton Police and Fire. A Clinton police officer arrived on scene and performed CPR prior to CFD units arriving.

CFD personnel from Station 2, Lt/Paramedic Ryan Winkler, Engineer/Paramedic Lance Muhlhausen, FF/Paramedic Dylan Moss, and FF/EMT-B Katie Grant, along with Battalion Chief Kurt VanDellen from Central Fire Station arrived on scene, assumed patient care, and provided Advanced Life Support. Patient was transported from the scene to Mercy One, where he was stabilized before being transferred for further treatment and care. Patient recovered and was discharged several days later.

Today, our personnel had the opportunity to meet with the patient and his wife, hear his story, and see firsthand the impact of their efforts. Reunions like these do not happen often, and they serve as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

This successful outcome is a testament to the entire Chain of Survival—from neighbors who recognized the emergency and immediately started CPR, to the outstanding work of Clinton County Communications, the Clinton Police Department, and CFD personnel who provided advanced life support and transport.

CFD is incredibly proud of everyone involved and grateful for the teamwork that helped save a life.
