INTENSIVE SUPERVISION OFFICER POSITION
The position is a grant funded, full-time position based out of Henry County, Clinton, MO. The position includes paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave and insurance.

A person in this position is expected to provide community supervision of Court adjudicated youth and moderate/high risk informal delinquent or status offenders ages 12 – 17 in Henry, Benton, Bates and St. Clair Counties. The employee will assist in establishment of guidelines and completion requirements for probation contracts and monitor probation plans including regular visits to the juvenile’s school and home. The employee is expected to work flexible hours with a significant degree of independence. Transportation of youth, at times, is required. In-circuit travel is a requirement with mileage reimbursement when a personal vehicle is used. The employee will work closely with law enforcement, school officials, treatment providers and other agency professionals. The employee will be expected to write supervision status reports, testify in Court proceedings, conduct urine drug screens, oversee electronic monitoring equipment supervision, conduct informal conferences with youth and their parents/ legal guardians, enter data into computer systems along with organizing and facilitating gender specific group programs. Caseload average is eight youth and limited to fifteen. On-call duties include weekend and evening for the youth assigned to the program and general on-call rotation duties covering the circuit scheduled for one week every two months.

Basic Skills required Some knowledge of juvenile courts and procedures; basic knowledge of personal computers and software; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with youth, families, staff and public; ability to handle potentially hostile situations with a juvenile and family regarding a case, organizational and personal time management skills.

Required Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field. Professional employment in a public or private agency involving substantial amount of time in the delivery of services to families, adults or children can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Salary: Starting salary, depending on qualification, is $3,453.00 monthly, ($41,446.00 yearly) advancing to $3,522.00 monthly ($42,275.00 yearly) following completion of 6-month probation period.

Paid Leave Time: This position receives 13 paid holidays, accrues five hours of vacation and five hours of sick leave per pay period (Semi-monthly).
Insurance: Health insurance is offered.

Position: Deputy Juvenile Officer I or II

The 27th Circuit Juvenile Division is seeking applicants to fill the position of Deputy Juvenile Officer I or II. The official domicile for this position will be Benton County with an office located in Warsaw Missouri. Below are brief descriptions of position duties.

Deputy Juvenile Office I Description: This is entry-level professional work in the enforcement and administration of the Missouri juvenile justice system. An employee in this position is vested with the statutory authority of a juvenile officer to take charge of children who come under the jurisdiction of the juvenile or family court. This position is expected to exercise supervision over juveniles under the Court’s jurisdiction. Employees in this class are expected to work with some degree of independence. Close supervision is received from and work is reviewed by a higher-level Juvenile Officer.

Deputy Juvenile Officer II Description: This is journey level professional work in the enforcement and administration of the Missouri juvenile justice system. An employee in this position is vested with the statutory authority of a juvenile court officer to take charge of children who come within the jurisdiction of the Juvenile or Family Court. An employee in this position is expected to exercise supervision over juveniles under the Court’s jurisdiction and to work with a high degree of independence. Positions in this class are distinguished from a Juvenile Officer I by the degree of independence and responsibility expected and the degree of complexity and full range of duties performed. Work may involve basic supervisory responsibilities over lower level Deputy Juvenile Officers. General supervision is received from and work may be reviewed by a higher-level Juvenile Officer.

Posting Salary:
DJO I: $1726.92 (Bi-Monthly), $41,466.00 (Annual) Range J22
DJO II: $1942.58 (Bi-Monthly), $46,622.00 (Annual) Range J25

Deputy Juvenile Officer I: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field.

OR

Professional employment in a public or private agency involving substantial amount of time (over 50% time) in the delivery of protective services to families, adults, children, or the aged may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

Deputy Juvenile Officer II: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field, and two years of experience as a Juvenile Officer I or equivalent.
