Sergeant Ballew joined our team in 2021, and his unwavering commitment to the growth of the Detention Facility, along with his exceptional leadership skills, have propelled him to the rank of Sergeant in a remarkably short time. He possesses an impressive understanding of every facet of the facility, and his dedication to his team, department, and the citizens of Anderson County is unquestionable.
He truly stands out as one of the department's finest individuals.

Sergeant Ballew is characterized by his ambition, always striving to excel at every level. He has undergone extensive training in defensive tactics, interpersonal communications, handling chemical weapons, identifying inmate tactics, and preventing su***des.

Additionally, he is certified in CPR/Narcan administration. His commitment extends to the professional growth of his fellow deputies and efforts to positively influence inmates' lives by informing them about the various classes and external programs available.
In recognition of his dedication and exceptional leadership, Sergeant Ballew achieved a well-deserved promotion to the rank of Sergeant in 2023, almost exactly one year after his promotion to Corporal.

Today was a day of mixed emotions. My heart broke for Tucker’s family. My heart broke for his friends. My heart broke for the men and women he served with. I saw and felt the pain everyone was experiencing.

On the other hand, I got to see folks I have not seen in years. I hugged them a little tighter and longer today.

My take away is this, not only should we not take life for granted, but we should say at birthdays what we say at funerals. Tucker was loved more than he ever could imagine.
