We had a very exciting day here at The Alverno!! We started our day with our residents getting the opportunity to make their vote count and we ended the day by celebrating our very own Paula who has worked with us for 50 years!! Couldn’t have asked for a better Friday!

During this, Spiritual Care Week, Trinity Health Senior Communities Mission Leader Michael Prince shares a prayer in gratitude for all of the chaplains across the country who enrich our residents' and colleagues' experience in so many diverse ways:
"Gracious and Holy God, You created us as whole persons -- body, mind, and spirit -- and Your spirit sustains and renews us every day. We give you thanks for our chaplains, for their faithful service within our communities, providing pastoral presence and care. Thank you for all our colleagues who are also called to provide spiritual care, as we together serve our Mission in the spirit of the Gospel and demonstrate Reverence for the whole person. May Your spirit enliven and strengthen each of us. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.

When The United Way asks you to make 800 cookies for their fundraiser that’s what you do. Huge thanks to Anita in dietary for making all the cookies and everyone who helped pack and label them. It takes a team and we have a great one!

We are thrilled to share that eight Trinity Health Senior Communities have received "Gold Trophy" icons on their Nursing Home Compare profiles. The graphic indicates the Centers' for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) designation for high performers among nursing homes that qualify for CMS' Risk-Based Survey program. A Gold Trophy icon appears alongside each of these skilled nursing communities' Care Compare star rating.
The Gold Trophy is shown on roughly 12% of U.S. nursing homes' profiles, and while it is not the only indicator of quality, it's certainly a point of pride! Congratulations Bellbrook, Glacier Hills' Care and Rehabilitation Center, The Neighborhoods of White Lake, Fraser Villa, St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center, Mercy Circle, Mary's Meadow, and MercyOne Dyersville Care Center!

Known for her contagious smile, positive attitude, and unwavering commitment to others, Kate goes above and beyond to ensure every resident feels included, valued, and cared for. Whether helping with shopping and outings, assisting in resident gardens, reading with residents, or creating memorable activities and events, she brings warmth, laughter, and connection to every interaction. Residents often describe her as "sunshine," and her colleagues admire her deep respect for others, strong faith, and willingness to support anyone in need." This nomination earned Ellen Kennedy Living Center's Community Life Coordinator, Kate Steffensmeier, the 2026 First Place Sister Catherine McAuley Living Mission Award. The Alverno, Trinity Health Senior Communities’ skilled nursing community in Clinton, Iowa, will present an education program for family members, friends, and caregivers of people living with memory challenges on Thursday, October 22 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at 849 13th Avenue in Clinton. Certified Dementia Practitioner Elizabeth Heard, chaplain at The Alverno, will facilitate.

Participants will learn:
• What dementia is and how it affects the brain
• Common changes in behavior and communication
• Practical strategies for meaningful interactions
• Techniques to reduce frustration and improve understanding
• What resources are available to support professional and family caregivers

With more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals living with dementia and educating caregivers, healthcare professionals, and families, Elizabeth Heard brings expertise and compassion to this important topic. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Chaplain, Elizabeth is passionate about helping others better understand dementia and build meaningful connections with those affected by the disease.

This monster just arrived and he is Hungry! For Candy Donations! If you would like to donate to our Trick-or-Treat just drop a bag of candy off and feed our monster. If you want the candy to go to a specific resident just put their name on the bag. We expect 250-300 kids so all donations are appreciated! Please donate by October 19th. Thank You!🎃
