⚠️ Critical safety alert for EMS providers and the public. A defective Chinese replacement air bag inflator has now killed 11 people in the U.S. — including the first fatality in a Chevrolet Equinox. Instead of protecting drivers in a crash, these DTN60DB inflators explode, sending metal fragments into chests, necks, and faces. If you or someone you know owns a used vehicle that has had an air bag deployment since 2020 and was not repaired at a manufacturer's dealership, get it inspected immediately. Do not drive a vehicle with a confirmed DTN60DB inflator. Full details and what to do: https://www.nhtsa.gov/press-releases/banned-chinese-air-bag-inflator-kills-11th-person-us

This is why tactical emergency medical training matters. 🚨 On August 14, a Military Police Officer in São Paulo, Brazil responded to a domestic violence call where a female victim had multiple stab wounds and life-threatening extremity bleeding. Before EMS arrived, Officer Linnyker de Souza Afonso applied a CAT tourniquet to control the bleeding — skills rooted in the same principles taught in NAEMT's TECC curriculum. The victim survived. This is TECC in action, in the real world, across the globe. 🌎 Watch the coverage: https://buff.ly/XSFFedt

Tourniquets save lives, but prolonged application comes with risks. New research published in the Journal of Special Operations Medicine examines the use of Traumagel as an adjunct hemostatic agent, presenting three cases where combination hemorrhage control enabled tourniquet removal without rebleeding. In operational environments where evacuation is delayed, approaches like this could make a critical difference. Worth a read for anyone working in tactical or prehospital care. 🔗 http://news.naemt.org/the-use-of-traumagel-for-hemorrhage-control-and-tourniquet-removal-a-case-series-of-traumatic-extremity-injuries/

Congress is home for summer recess — and that's your opening. 🏛️ Right now, your members of Congress are back in their home districts and available to connect. Inviting them or their staff for an agency visit or ride along is one of the most effective ways to show them exactly what EMS does, the challenges providers face, and why policy support matters. Don't let this window pass. Get our resources and take action: https://news.naemt.org/how-to-invite-your-member-of-congress-on-an-ems-ride-along-during-summer-recess/

Educating your members of Congress about the critical role EMS plays in our communities is essential. One of the most effective ways to do this is to invite your elected representatives or their staff to visit your agency and participate in a ride along.
