A historic day for Clinton.

Today, city leaders joined representatives from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Entergy Mississippi, the Hinds County Economic Development Authority, Hinds County representatives, and other regional partners to celebrate a $1 billion investment in the former Delphi manufacturing facility.

What was once a dormant industrial property is now positioned to become a catalyst for growth, creating jobs, strengthening the local tax base, and providing new resources to support the services and amenities Clinton residents rely on every day.

"This is the largest economic development project in the history of Clinton," said Mayor Will Purdie. "We are proud to welcome AWS to our community and excited about the opportunities this investment will create for our residents, our schools, and future generations of Clinton families."

Today's celebration represents not only the transformation of a property, but the continued investment in the people and future of Clinton.

Let's talk about a park amenity everyone appreciates, especially when they need it.

Recent improvements at Traceway Park and Kids Towne Park have included updated restroom facilities that better serve the families, athletes, and visitors who use our parks each year.

As a reminder, the Special Election regarding the 2% Parks & Recreation Restaurant Tax will be held tomorrow, June 9, at Traceway Park.

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For election information, visit clintonms.org/2percent.

Because while restrooms may not be the most glamorous park improvement, they're definitely one of the most appreciated.

Every bite builds.

For every $10 spent at a Clinton restaurant, 20 cents is invested directly into Parks & Recreation. For a $15 burger basket, that’s about 30 cents. For a $25 family meal, it’s 50 cents. Individually, it’s small. Collectively, it becomes community improvements that benefit thousands of residents.

Since voters approved the tax in 2022, the revenue has helped fund:

✅ Towne Park Pickleball Complex
✅ New and upgraded restrooms at Traceway Park
✅ Brighton Park’s inclusive playground
✅ Ongoing improvements to the Traceway Softball Fourplex

Clinton isn’t alone. Communities across Mississippi use similar restaurant taxes to invest in quality-of-life amenities, including places like Southaven, Hattiesburg, Ridgeland, Senatobia, Raleigh, and Oakland.

A special election to renew the 2% Parks & Recreation restaurant tax will be held at Traceway Park (200 Soccer Row) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Polls Open at 7:00 a.m.

What a difference a few years can make.

This before-and-after shows the transformation of Kids Towne Park since voters approved the 2% Parks and Recreation Restaurant Tax in 2022.

What was once an aging tennis court facility is now home to the Towne Park Pickleball Complex, one of several Parks and Recreation improvements made possible through the 2% program.

The 2% Parks and Recreation Restaurant Tax has helped fund projects that enhance quality of life, create new recreational opportunities, and improve amenities for residents and visitors alike.

The Special Election to renew the 2% Parks and Recreation Restaurant Tax is just one week away on Tuesday, June 9.
