Incident Brief:
Today at 18:57 hours Clinton Firefighters and automatic aid partners were dispatched to 56 Holiday Drive in Clinton for a house on fire. When call alerted firefighters, Clinton Rescue 8 was just getting back in the apparatus from an emergency medical call at the nursing home, 1 Park Lane. Rescue 8 arrived at 56 Holiday Drive at 18:59 hours finding a bi-level home with heavy fire conditions emitting from 2nd story windows. Homeowner was outside and advised everyone was out and he had no pets. Rescue 8 crew attached to hydrant and extinguished the fire with hand lines in an aggressive interior attack. Clinton Tower Ladder 3 company crew went to the roof at arrival and cut a ventilation hole to support interior firefighters. Mutual aid companies, Kenney, Wapella and Maroa fire departments assisted Clinton crews with overhaul while Waynesville fire department covered Clinton’s station. A huge shout out to our local police and sheriffs department for being on hand and assisting in multiple tasks that made this incident seamless. The fire incident is being investigated by the Illinois Fire Marshals office but is not considered suspicious.
Rescue 8 was specifically designed for the event that happened this evening. A one in all truck, we went from an emergency medical call right to a working structure fire and handled it flawlessly. Rescue 8 has fought many fires since in service but tonight was a first that it was on a call, in the area and was first in on a structure fire!
